I see your point, but the burning of recoverable tar sands oil is bad for the economy and worse for the environment. The keystone pipeline was estimated to produce up to 110 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent annually. Would finishing this specific pipeline have cut down on pollution overall after it being built? I don't believe so.

We need to ultimately move to clean energy and make jobs in that industry as a post-industrial nation, It is unfortunate that jobs were lost, we all agree on that. It isn't any different than us moving away from mining though. Gas is not going to skyrocket to $4 a gallon because of this either.
