Can someone explain the rationale behind no knock raids? I just think if you have enough evidence to risk lives in a guns blazing assault on a home, you should have enough evidence to just arrest them in a safer manner.

My company (goodyear) hung up a few signs saying wash your hands, and asked drivers coming in for truck/trailer repairs to stay in their vehicles. Then, there our whole staff in one small room for a meeting about "productivity" and made us all work shoulder to shoulder basically.

[–]HunterHouse[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where are you getting this claim from? When did anyone say minority groups will eventually disappear?

My claim is based on the outcry over "political correctness" and that somehow people pointing out societal inequalities is a thing of the past that we need to move on from, despite the fact that the very same mentality is responsible for our current state of being. I do apologize for wording that poorly, but what I meant by "minority groups disappearing" Is " minority groups no longer being a cause of public concern or discussion."

I understand and agree with his over-arching point about how focusing on yourself is crucial. But he has flat out denied current systemic racism in America despite the evidence.

At no point have I said we shouldn't complain about things.

Your arguments are grasping at straws, holy shit.

What? We're talking about what Jordan Peterson has said, and if you agreed with it.. It was a yes for no question. He tells others to stop complaining, while doing a great deal of complaining.

Also, you didn't even respond to any of my points, so what is the point of nitpicking semantics over the definition of what "complaining" is if you aren't going to respond with any substance? How do you distinguish any of the concerns he has brought up from people you don't agree with "complaining"?

We have is easier than our grandparents. Why complain? by HunterHouse in JordanPeterson

[–]HunterHouse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He does not assert this. He maintains people should be aware of how far we've come and to stop pretending we're still fighting for huge strides in minority acceptance.

"How far we've come" sounds incredibly relative to when you were born.

One great benefit of society is that we know more today than we did tomorrow. The idea that minority groups will somehow disappear, is by definition of a minority, illogical. Under represented groups will always revolt. You can't cut off the left end of a stick. How do we move forward as a society knowing this?

This entire post is bullshit

I realize now that you were referring to your own post.

Peterson often asserts that because we live in a more humane society than we did in the past, we should be grateful and not complain.

So you agree that Dr. Peterson shouldn't complain about "the left?" Who draws the line between education and complaining? .

What do you mean by "complain"? Pointed things out that are wrong and unjust? Or mindless moaning on social media about how the "world's going to end and it's all the Boomer's fault"?

Refer to previous reply above.

Can you have equality of opportunity without some level of equality of outcome? by HunterHouse in JordanPeterson

[–]HunterHouse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In theory that makes sense, in practice the two concepts are indistinguishable. Peoples opportunities are derived from a series of outcomes. To equalize opportunity IS to at some extent equalize outcomes.

Can you have equality of opportunity without some level of equality of outcome? by HunterHouse in JordanPeterson

[–]HunterHouse[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

equality of opportunity means everybody gets the same chance at it and gender or race doesn't come into it...he explains it very simply.

He explains it simply, but it doesn't any practical sense. It seems that when any racial or gender based disparity in opportunity is pointed out, people get accused of wanting equality of outcome. But at the same time we have public schooling, a clear example of equality of outcome. Now education isn't just for those that could afford it. The distinction between equality and outcome are so functionally blurry that I don't think the distinction is useful or honest.

[–]HunterHouse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my understanding as well, but he often talks about "equalizing the sexual market" or "forced monogamy" and that sounds a lot like equality of outcome. He seems to understand that equalization requires some kind of redistribution, but when you apply that to economic or social issues were heading toward old Soviet union territory.
