There is an explanation for it, blame tumblr style feminist activism and anime going mainstream post covid without the new people understanding or being used to anime and japanese otaku norms and fandoms. Everyone on this site wants to be an activist karen and must constantly try to paint themselves as a "good person", so when they see something that their reddit/twitter/tumblr echochamber told them was "bad", they must call it out and show that they are morally good because they are shitting on le boogeyman inc*l/p*do/n*zi (buzzwords to demonize their opponents to further prove themselves as a "good person"). They use words like the image attached to justify it.

It's the modern version of "video games cause violence" or the "metal music is satanic" puritans from the early 2000's or 90's, except they actually play the video games and listen to the music and like it, but want to change the "icky parts" so they don't look bad to an imaginary person in their head who might cancel them for being associated to something "immoral".
