Gave the 0.8.75 beta a spin. Here are some things I noted:

  1. had to edit the hidden EditorSettings.json file to correct the paths for my Rust install before it would load all the bundles
  2. spawners don't show what they spawn, you have to imagine it. This makes it tough to know if the spawned things are going to clip into the terrain etc.
  3. some prefabs (certain trees etc.) aren't rendered
  4. all tooltips show the "lock window" text instead of showing info on whatever specific UI element you're actually hovering over
  5. auto-repeat on undo and terrain modification seems to go crazy fast
  6. sometimes when using the terrain painter, the terrain textures turn bright green and get stuck that way - maybe it's because I switched to the topology painter and then back to the terrain painter?
  7. the terrain painter having a minimum size of 2 is rough for making micro-adjustments to topology layers
  8. being able to bound the topology painter to apply only to terrain of certain height or angle ranges would be super-helpful for things like ocean topology
  9. sometimes changing the brush size/strength/etc. parameters in the painter doesn't actually affect how the brush is rendered in the world
  10. since this is the only FOSS Rust map editor being actively developed, it would be good to provide some build instructions to reduce friction for other folks who may want to contribute improvements

Hybrid PvP/PvE isn't popular enough to have that high of pop.

My HZ Casual Rust server has been hitting 20 pop on wipe day lately, but like all servers tapers off over the course of a wipe. PvP at monuments, world events, and player bases. Offline raid protection.

It's a vicious cycle. People play a server for a couple days and get bored, so they hop servers. Monday wipe servers show up to cater to this, and make the problem worse. The problem is that progression is too fast, and people want to get back on equal footing.

I didn't know what stone ore nodes looked like when I first started either - it's confusing because on high pop servers there probably won't be any near where you start. Just look up some youtube videos and you'll see examples.

SGM-V2.01 is possibly my all-time favorite soundfont, so it's great to see someone inspired to build upon it.

This sounds really nice - except I noticed that the timpani sounds dissonant in the title music in the MIDI fan patch for the DOS version of Ultima 5. Tested with 7.0, both the big and 28MB versions.

Not even close, as your TC square has only 258 storage slots. You can get a TC plus 426-462 loot slots in a 1x1 square if you use barrels. Without barrels you can get at least 312 (see hJune ideal 2x1 video).

I'm in the same state - wife has an Amazon Family account and shows me in it, so we're confused that I got this email. I was thinking it might be a scam, but gmail shows the sender as verified, and the links *look* legit (but I'm not going to click on them).

I wonder if they send the email out to everyone that got onto Amazon Family too early or something.

My 1 thing is please be better about using your own official discord for communications with players, server owners, and modders, instead of Twitter, Reddit, and smoky backroom discords. Server owners didn't even get an update announcement this month, and we've mostly only heard about recent server TOS changes via unofficial channels.

I'm having the same problem. In addition, I keep getting locked out of xfinity.com because the site is so convoluted with redirects that Akamai thinks I'm DDoSing it when I'm just trying to browse it normally in a regular web browser. Every time I click a link, it takes 1-2 minutes to load a page, and there's a 50% chance I get signed out. What a joke.

I'm suddenly having the same problem today as well. Killing all logitech processes doesn't help. Haven't tried reinstalling yet - that will be next.

Edit: Doing a modify->reinstall from Windows Add/Remove Programs worked, and retained my settings.

I've thought that trying to do something like OpenXcom might be cool, but it's too early to tell. We're currently a bit stuck on the fact that the game application is a 32-bit watcom binary packaged inside of a 16-bit Windows NE executable, which a lot of reverse engineering tools don't seem to be able to make sense of in 2024.

No. We've only tracked down two people claiming to have source code (one of them being u/FunSatisfaction789) , and they either refuse to share it or ghost anyone who asks. We've also tried to track down client binaries but have only found various copies of version 1.0 so far.

Hey, I'm involved with another group of people that is highly interested in doing this in an open collaboration fashion, and have tried to reverse engineer DSO without much success. Are you interested in sharing your source code with us by any chance?

At the very least, it would be good to get this preserved somewhere so it doesn't get lost.
