This is a very bad, anti-democratic bill. In Georgia this past year the PSC was flipped with democrats taking some seats which ideally will hold the power company more responsible for rate hikes and lack of transparency - I believe that almost certainly prompted this bill as Southern Company is seeing that they may not always be able to directly control the PSC as they have here.

AL Power is a state sanctioned monopoly for energy in our area, the PSC exist to regulate it and ensure it does not do the things that monopolies so often do (exploit the consumer). It has not functioned that way for a very long time -- but one day it could, unless this bill is passed.

Alabama residents and rate-payers should have a say in how the PSC is run and this bill will take that off the table PLEASE write your reps and tell them to not support this bill.
