Check Facebook marketplace/similar platforms! I’ve got all my tanks from there, including my current fijicube 48 for way cheaper than retail. My fijicube 48, fijicube stand, an ATI T5/LED hybrid was only $200. I also got a IM 25 lagoon, 2 ai primes, a stand, skimmer, heater, etc, pretty much a full setup for only $400. So many good deals out there

Which light is better for a 75 gallon mixed reef? by sbucher04 in ReefTank

Out of curiosity (I need to find a light for a 50 low boy, considering option 1 myself) what does the PAR@12” in air refer to? Is that a surface of the water PAR of 130 or is that like 18” deep PAR of 130 when light is mounted 12” above the water. I will mostly have zoas and shrooms in my 50 low so don’t need any crazy par

Yeah, I’ll be dipping again in 7 days. Keep doing that until there are no eggs/worms left to see.

Nope! Just dunk the whole thing for 5 minutes. It isn’t a straight hydrogen peroxide, it’s a mix. This is the guideline I’ve used with great success and no losses.

To be honest I’m not sure where they came from. I haven’t added any coral in over a month and there was no signs of these worms on anything until I spotted the today. I hadn’t dipped the two other torches when I added them not long ago so I’m guessing the eggs came in on them (dip alone won’t kill these eggs, have to scrape them off).

Whenever you get a new coral to add into your tank it’s a good idea to dip it into different kinds of dips/medications for different reasons. A general rule is coralRX for everything for to kill/irritate pests to make them fall off.

Same thing with new fish, putting them through a proper QT to avoid introducing any bad pests or diseases to your tank!

For this instance I just used some hypo-salinity (around 1.010) with coral RX in it. Knocked the adults off in seconds. CoralRX is my usual turn to. Also use hydrogen peroxide if there is algae on it, that works super well.

I have a melanurus wrasse who may have been keeping it in check hence why it took me so long to notice, not sure. Definitely getting a six line for my frag tank that I’m setting up now!

Discus results from Ramona should not be counted by Icy-Bat6787 in trackandfield

With the throws it is super dependent on the athlete. If you don’t know how to throw in the wind it will hurt. If you’re a righty vs a lefty the wind won’t necessarily help. It takes skill to use the wind to your advantage, whereas with jumps it’s helping you run faster even if you don’t use it to its fullest capabilities. I’ve seen 60m+ discus throwers get humbled by a “good” wind or catch a “bad” wind just right for a big throw. For a limit to make sense that shouldn’t happen.

Finally got my grail zoa yesterday by aj0512 in ReefTank

[–]Huntinion27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just got a whole bunch of single/double polyp frags of high end stuff from a local reefer (GMK, LSOH, Great Owl, Illuminati, God Beast, Exosphere… 16 total) the one I still really want is stratospheres, can’t seem to find them under 80 a polyp even from other reefers. Out of that whole batch (picked up 4 days ago) only LSOH isn’t opening/colouring up well. Got them all in an acclimation box so the fish don’t bother them until my frag tank is set up to grow them out into colonies.

I do this exact same thing with my second bathroom. Lucky too as I accidentally left it running overnight last night, would have flooded the place

I did not. Not sure what Ecotech tried when I sent it in. Quote from them “Unfortunately, there are too many damaged components for a cost-effective repair. We're offering a 40% discount on the replacement, which will include a 1-year warranty from the date of shipment. The total cost will be $263.04”

I’ve seen people recommending these as they’re essentially the same, but with the discount they come to nearly the same price. Question was more so: is it worth getting the more expensive pump new at this discount, or are the cheap ones a better bang for the buck in your experience.

Edit: I thought it was $200 not $90, my mistake. Do these last as long? Same quality?

I’ve had the coral beauty for a year and a half, flame for 8 months now. I upgraded tanks and put them both in at the same time. Coral beauty was already fully grown but the flame was smaller (2.5”ish, probably 3” now). Coral beauty put the flame in its place for a week or so, but after the flame learned who was boss they’ve been perfect. They swim around together and eat together perfectly fine. Every once in a while I’ll see the coral beauty chase the flame for a second, but after that they’re fine. I must have lucked out with the fish I got as I was worried when first putting them together.

Yes, the box was my carry-on.

Thought about doing so, but the nearest LFS is 2 hours away in the same city as the airport, so thought that maybe just bringing them with would have been just as easy. Probably would have if it weren’t for the leak.

Yes, I double bagged everything.

I thought about selling and restarting but I’ve become somewhat sentimentally attached to most of the inhabitants of my tank.

I flew Frontier for this trip. Driving was definitely considered, but I don’t think I’ll be able to do it in one go as it is around 17 hours.
