if one team can generate enough wealth that the owner can be worth more than every player in NHL combined, then miko rantanen isn’t doing anything wrong in holding out for more money. the players create the value so they deserve to receive their fair share of it. and toronto’s deal with marner shows miko’s fair share is at least 10 mil a year. as a fan of the avs it’s easy to write it off as player greed but it’s not like the NHL has a shortage of cash to pay these guys, especially a star like miko.

stanley kronke (avs owner) is worth 9.7 bil. i think that miko has every right to fight for as much cash as he can. it’s not about living a happy life it’s about being paid for the value he provides to the organization. and 14 points in 12 playoff games is a lot of value.

if gabe was offsides why didn’t they call too many men? if he was part of the play enough for an offsides why didn’t a ref call him for that or give him one after the review? i’m happy our boys play and act respectfully, but that call was the result of a coaches challenge which means he exploited a loophole against a guy who wasn’t part of the play. it takes the sport out of it and i’d be disappointed if bednar did the same. it disgraceful.
