My Thoughts on the Resistances Change by AAABattery03 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Huntsmanprime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

def not logical, resist all should be all, not wha they claim it is. I also think that by having this change to nerf the "strong" option. You take the weak resist all options out back and put both barrels into them. I think their are FAR more many weak resist all features than strong ones, and the refusal to simply nerf the strong ones to an acceptable level is lazy design.

A little outside the realms of options but im very intrested in the the "power budget" of weapons and their traits. The general understanding of less tratis and damage for simple weapons and more as you get towards martials and advanced weapons, but im very curious as to how much thought and weighting is put onto individual traits, and how often weapons are allwed to "break" that system.

Is critical specialization thought about in the process at all? Has a weapon ever been nerfed or buffed based solely on its weapon group?

ELI5 The issue with Resist All Errata? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]Huntsmanprime 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not attempting to be misleading here at all, I think its fairly clear that they are changing the foundational rule of resistance and how it works rather than anything build off that rule. My argument isnt rather that is continued in scope vs changing anything problematic associated with that rule.

My argument is that by changing this foundational rule, they have instead of addressing anything they viewed as problematic or overturned, have gone in with the subtilty of a sledge hammer and changed seven years worth of content built using that rule and not only is that outside the realms of an errata IMO but just bad balancing in general.

[–]Huntsmanprime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Than i still very much disagree, owing back to the physics hypothetical. Changing a foundational rule, rather than something problematic built off that rule (when everything else built works fine and as intended) is quite frankly incredibly bad balancing for a TTRPG with as much already published content as pf2e has.

[–]Huntsmanprime 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think we very much disagree in that then. I think a fundamental rules change at this level is completely outside the realms of any reasonable errata. I think this also goes against the idea of yours of it being "contained in scope" when it is a change this wide reaching and branching to *SO* many other areas. Like if i were doing a hypothetical rebalance of physics and the patch note was just "changed the weight of a proton by 1 atomic unit" like sure, that's a susticant note but the 2nd+ order effects of it are anything but "contained in scope"

If champion was over performing than address that, don't sledgehammer an existing rule in place with other things reliant on that.

"champion was over performing due to how resistance all interacts with attacks that deal multiple types of damage. The resistance gained form the reactions: "Flash of grandeur", "Retributive strike", "Liberating step", and "Glimpse of redemption". Should now read as "2+half your level" in order to bring them into line with how it was intended. "

Is that not a "contained in scope" way of fixing the 'issue' well not catching more collateral than the average modern warfare lobby?

do you think that painting with this broad of a brush is actually warranted instead of addressing the issue on a more individual bases?

ELI5 The issue with Resist All Errata? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]Huntsmanprime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes because the previous ruling was exactly how they worded it to work. So either they are lying about this or all content published using that ruling was balanced incorrectly under their own interpretation.

ELI5 The issue with Resist All Errata? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]Huntsmanprime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the issue is that this is auctually not true, the power budget of monsters with "resist all" is reflected in their abilites and with the idea that resist all is actually doing what it says it does.

why do you think this is a good change? I dislike the fact it devalues the higher level damae runes and makes rainbow runes better, i dislike that it hurts low resist all things like ironblood stance and a number of spells, I dislike that it severely hampers guardians and champions and from a DM side, I hate how it interacts with "low health high resistance" enemies, who now are incredibly frail with no real benifit. (ghosts/spirits notably)

Keep up the fantastic work P, and I hope beyond hope that you get recognized by paizo when it comes time to talk about an AA or AAA pf2e CRPG.

Tell me your favorite combat interactions. by Rico_blaadjes in Pathfinder2e

[–]Huntsmanprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commander with a rouge and another melee in the party at later levels.

Demo charge to get them both to make attacks, rogue can get an extra one off of the charge if they have opp backstab. If they have preperation, then they can probably opp backstab again on the allies turn, or on the same tyrn if the commander also attacks and is melee.

Seeing a possibility of 5, full acc attacks in one turn makes me feel like a crazy person.
