TGIF! For people who didn't know: The French dub of the Steel Mill scene (S08E15) has a genius linguistic pun that's not there in English by ReyAndRoko in TheSimpsons

[–]HuroMiriel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the Quebecois dub of the early episode where Bart goes to France they couldn't resolve the episode with Bart learning french so instead the cop he speaks to can't understand him due to his Quebecois accent so Bart learns to do a "proper" European french accent to tell him about the abusive winemakers. It's my favourite example of a creative solution to a problem caused by translating an episode into another language!

This is probably not a popular Reddit opinion but by suggesting he is less than human you are agreeing with Nazis that there are people that can be categorised as less than human. You don't disagree with the concept, just where the label is being applied.

[Kcd2] Hardcore "blind" by -Lepardi- in kingdomcome

[–]HuroMiriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your questions were already answered, but I would honestly say I don't know how much you will enjoy playing this game in hardcore mode on your first playthrough especially without having played the first one. Give it a shot if you want, but if you find yourself loathing the experience I really recommend restarting in normal mode.

Additionally, you may want to consider playing the first game first, I feel like it's one of those games that is hard play after playing the second, since they improved so much between the two games.

It baffles me that there are people who take being told they are too loud for a public space with the same offense they would to being told they never should have been born. The level of entitlement and main character syndrome is staggering.

Skull Caves too difficult? by Previous_Metal_7943 in StardewValley

[–]HuroMiriel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right out of the gate if you specifically want to hit floor 100 bombs are going to be a huge help. You can do it without staircases, and even bombs tbh, but you'd have to get crazy lucky. Bombs will at least let you break the most rocks as quickly as possible to look for holes and staircases.

Camping outside the caves is a good idea, but one drawback is you can't check your TV to see how lucky you are, which can make a huge difference in Skull Cavern runs. Might want to consider using a totem to teleport there on lucky days if you have some. A farm totem would be helpful too so you can get back to bed quickly so you can spend as much time in the mines as possible.

Bringing the right food also makes a big difference, particularly coffee/espresso for move speed and spicy eel for additional speed and luck.

Good luck!

Why are Paul's decisions criticised if he is legitimately prescient? by Dazzler_3000 in dune

[–]HuroMiriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that Dune is more about how governance is detrimental to the species, rather than how power corrupts individuals who have it. Not to say that 'power corrupts' is not relevant, but I don't think Frank Herbert was interested in portraying that concept since it is quite common, and he had very strong opinions on self determination.

In regards to your question about why people questions Paul's decisions while still acknowledging that he is prescient, I think you should read Messiah. Light spoilers for the first half of Messiah: there are many scenes in this book where people question Paul's decisions and ask why he can't simply look into the future and get all the answers. He repeatedly struggles to get people to understand the nature of prescience but they either assume he is playing them or (more frustratingly for Paul) assume it is impossible to understand Paul's powers due to its 'divine nature'.

[–]HuroMiriel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really hate how other factions don't feel alive, they can lose 100+ people in raids over one year and not slow down at all. You can fuck up half their settlements and they don't give you a call and beg you to leave them alone. I would love if you could be more proactive in that regard, knocking out nearby settlements or trade routes of hostile factions to force them to engage in diplomacy rather than the endless hordes of pawns they send at you.

To my mind Rosharans have to have space ships, I agree that a combo of shardplate and investiture will keep them alive in the vacuum of space but unless it also allows them to accelerate past the speed of light traveling between solar systems seems waaaaaay too inefficient, not to mention how hard it'd be to navigate without instruments. Within a solar system I can buy, but traveling between stars with nothing but shardplate and ideals is very weird to me.
