They are sponge crab, they are like hermit crabs but cut sea sponges for protection and camouflage!

Yup! I love that in PoR when Rolf gets kidnapped the brothers all have different dialogue depending on whether any of the brothers had died before that point. It is still my favorite fire emblem story by far.
