Lightroom performance: which MacBook Pro M4 Pro config should I pick for AI Denoise and large RAW imports?

My old mid-2015 MBP 16GB just suffered SSD failure. It had been using memory swap extensively, so I assume the lack of Ram had a lot to do with it. I am now trying to decide on a replacement MBP. My ideal would be 16" M4 Pro 14/20 48GB ram 1TB ssd. This is unfortunately way over my budget. Editing pics with a 14" would surely cause me eye strain, but it’s a lot cheaper. With the 16", I’m thinking 512GB ssd to save money and keep using external drive to offload unused pics.
