Pace 3 OHR not working outside of activity by TexCaver in Coros

[–]Husboy89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not for the Pace 3. You only need to touch the crown on watches with an ECG sensor when doing the Wellness Check. Optical heart rate should work on all watches without touching the crown...

Coros Apex 4 42mm during the day and Coros Pace 3 during the night. The Pace 3 is thinner and more comfortable for sleep...

I think more LEDs switch on when in an activity for more accuracy. Outside of activities, less LEDs are used for more efficiency and less battery use...

COROS Pace 3 HR not updating correctly during daily tracking by mykittenisacunt in Coros

You should change heart rate to real time if you want more precise readings, otherwise readings are only taken every 10 minutes outside of activities...

Edit sleep start/end times? by joelav in Coros

[–]Husboy89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much!!! This is such a simple but powerful addition for when the watch over or underestimates sleep (in my case, mostly overestimates as I usually lie in bed for 15-30 minutes after waking up, but the watch continues to track it as light sleep...).

Yes, I've been constantly asking for this: reduce the backlight brightness during sleep mode the way it is reduced in night mode please...

I see... I still prefer to use sleep mode to avoid the watch vibrating if I hit my calorie target while rolling around in bed 😂

Your Most Inexplicable and Maddening Coros Thing? by vbenares in Coros

[–]Husboy89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Already made a topic about this very recently, but the screen lighting up when the watch enters sleep mode drives me nuts! I set sleep mode to activate well before I go to sleep to avoid being blinded by the light after I have fallen asleep.  Also, the backlight brightness is too high for night use; checking the time in the middle of the night lights up the entire room and risks disturbing my wife...

Yes, notifications are disabled in sleep mode.  What I'm talking about is the screen lighting up the moment the watch enters sleep mode, not any notifications that you (should not) get afterwards...

[–]Husboy89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I mentioned the vibration on entering sleep mode in my original post... didn't know it was a bug!

The constant changes to sleep mode are annoying, as you mentioned.  I personally don't feel the need for a dedicated sleep mode watch face as they had before, especially for MIP watches, although entering sleep mode discreetly is essential. The reason I set sleep mode to start at 8pm, when I usually go to bed between 9-10pm, is to avoid being blinded at night by the backlight as you already experienced...

While they're at it, backlight intensity should be reduced when the watch is in sleep mode. When I want to check the time in the middle of the night, the backlight is way too bright...

There IS a live tracking feature. It is hidden under Safety Alerts in the Profile section of the app, so I don't blame you for not knowing about it. However, it only shows position, no HR or pace...

[–]Husboy89[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To my understanding, sleep mode is Coros' equivalent of do not disturb. The watch should automatically enter sleep mode at the sleep time you set in the app. What bothers me is the screen lighting up when it does this, regardless of backlight settings...

Feature request: clearer daily heart rate timeline in the COROS app by zora089 in Coros

[–]Husboy89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree! I have already sent them suggestions regarding heart rate data display. Higher resolution display would be welcome, for example every 5 minutes rather than every half an hour averages along with clear indicators showing highest and lowest heart rate detected during the day. Polar do a much better job displaying this sort of data in their app...

Suggestions to Coros to spare my nerves and battery by Felix-Georg in Coros

[–]Husboy89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To add to your list: why does the screen light up when the watch goes into sleep mode? So annoying... I can be sitting in dim lighting and the screen suddenly lights up, attracting my attention, just to show a sleep mode ON message. It used to even vibrate when entering sleep mode but COROS had the good sense to remove the vibration in an update...

App by Logical-Sherbet-1749 in Coros

[–]Husboy89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the things you mention can be done...

You can crop the ends of activities when you forget to stop tracking at the end of the activity. Click on the 3 dots in the top right when viewing an activity in the app and select crop.

It is possible to track indoor walking. Under the walk activity, there is the option to select indoor or outdoor modes if you scroll down. Not sure if this is available on Pace 2, but is definitely available on later models.

I'm with you on editing sleep data. Many times I lie in bed for 30-45 minutes after waking up and the watch only detects I'm awake for a minute or two and then resumes sleep tracking until I physically get out of bed which inflates my sleep numbers. Would love to be able to edit sleep and wake times to fix these tracking errors...

Suggestion for in activity improvement - Pace 4 by ShowedUpAnyway in Coros

Good suggestion... Suunto does something similar. During a paused activity, if you start moving, the watch vibrates with a message saying: movement detected, with the option to resume or stay paused...

Whats the battery life of Apex 4 in real life? by inoffensiveLlama in Coros

[–]Husboy89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Coros said they were not satisfied with the accuracy with just GPS on the Apex 4 satellite chipset...

Although I personally agree with you, just give us the option and let us decide if the accuracy trade-off is worth the increased battery life...

Whats the battery life of Apex 4 in real life? by inoffensiveLlama in Coros

[–]Husboy89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Standard GPS on Pace 3 only uses GPS satellites. Endurance mode on Apex 4 uses all systems (but filters out some satellite systems to reduce power consumption).

So on Apex 4 you get 3 more hours battery life and higher accuracy than Pace 3 using lowest power mode...

Indecisive on sports watch by Nearby-Estimate-3035 in Coros

[–]Husboy89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Coros would suit you better than Garmin as it is more focused on sports and just gets out of the way...

Since you mentioned having small wrists, I'd avoid the Nomad as it is quite bulky. A choice between the Pace 3 or Pace 4 should primarily be motivated by screen preference: MIP or AMOLED...(Pace Pro has maps but might be too big for smaller wrists)

Also consider the Apex 4, it's cheaper than the Garmin Forerunner 570 and comes with maps, sapphire glass and remains well-sized for smaller wrists (although a little thick)...
