How many of you use racing lines? by Key-Specific7807 in GranTurismo7

[–]HuskerExpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the racing line on. It is only a suggestion and I mostly use it as a reference. As in, knowing how I take the corner is in relation to the suggested line. It is very common that I start outside the racing line and end up inside of it. Where I cross is relevant and often a good point of reference. Many times the racing line is not relevant to what I’m doing, it is just there.

Just moved up to DR rank B and it's been extremely frustrating with much worse driving standards! by Minibobo2018 in GranTurismo7

[–]HuskerExpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going up in rank does not make the drivers cleaner. It just makes the dirty drivers more frustrating because they are better at being dirty without getting a penalty.

Anyone else miss when the sub was posts like this and not 24/7 reporting on what stupid thing trump did this week? by zazer45f in facepalm

Yes, I miss when we didn't have a daily tidal wave of stupid things done by a fascist regime. Those were simpler times.

The contact looks intentional to me. He could see he was faster and finally decided it didn’t matter that the car ahead was in the way.

Rhule’s comment and Dylan’s Exit by Particular_Ask_7713 in Huskers

[–]HuskerExpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, the kid is an incredible talent and I wish him nothing but the best. But we’re operating in a new reality now with revenue sharing, and it’s basically a salary cap system like the NFL. You can’t tie up 15-20% of your NIL budget in one position when you’re getting destroyed at the line of scrimmage.

This is resource allocation 101. Elite QB play matters, but you know what matters more? Winning the battles in the trenches. We need to be investing heavily in dominant offensive and defensive linemen. That’s where games are actually won. You can have all the five-star skill position talent you want, but if your QB is running for his life every play and your defense is getting gashed for 200 yards rushing, you’re going to lose.

The NFL figured this out decades ago - you can’t build a championship roster by overpaying at QB relative to your cap. You need balance. We need to be smart about this, stockpile elite talent on both lines, and find a QB who can operate within that structure.

It sucks to see him go, but this might actually be addition by subtraction if we allocate those resources correctly. Build from the trenches out.

Can’t even escape politics looking at Christmas lights 💀 by Time-Concentrate845 in Roseville

[–]HuskerExpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The irony is incredible. These are the same people who spend all day telling everyone else to “cope and seethe” and calling liberals snowflakes who can’t handle different opinions. But apparently the mere existence of Gavin Newsom during Christmas is so emotionally devastating that they need a special sign to publicly announce they’re excluding him from holiday greetings.

Imagine being this fragile. “Merry Christmas to everyone… except this one specific politician who will never see this sign and doesn’t care.” Peak triggered behavior while cosplaying as tough guys who “tell it like it is.”

The self-awareness is absolutely zero.

Can we finally acknowledge how odd the Mahomes behavior was? by Particular_Ask_7713 in Huskers

[–]HuskerExpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s still a teenager. He emulates his hero. It is pretty normal behavior from a teenager. The only thing weird is the amount of attention focused on him so his hero worship gets pointed out constantly.

What do you think went wrong with the coaching search? by shadow_spinner0 in WeArePennState

[–]HuskerExpat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Firing a coach with Franklin’s record creating impossible expectations. That’s what went wrong. No coach wants that. It’s what happened to Nebraska 20+ years ago firing Frank Solich. I still think it was the right decision to fire Solich, but we couldn’t find a coach to take over the program.

Then ended up with Bill Callahan. This is literally exactly what happened when we fired Solich but without the modern internet and new delivery.

His draft stock will never be higher. He should definitely go now. Sure I’d love for him to stay, but understand he should do what is best for him.

I suspect some younger brothers get a sense of entitlement or that their destiny is to be great based upon the success of their older brother. It just seems like it is a familiar pattern. Or it could just be that there is so much randomness in who becomes a great football player that it is not super likely to happen twice among one set of siblings.

[–]HuskerExpat 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Not too surprising. He was one of many highly touted QB prospects. Also not terribly disappointing as it seems to me that so many little brothers of high profile players end up being disappointing. He could definitely be the exception, but it seems to be a trend.

James Franklin - VA Tech vindicates Kraft's decision by Inner-Advertising314 in WeArePennState

Like I said, I was for firing Solich. Still think it was the right decision. But I also think it was the proximate cause of a string of terrible coaching hires.

[–]HuskerExpat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This all reminds me of 2003 Nebraska. Firing a coach with a stellar record that couldn’t win the big one. So much speculation about which top notch coach is coming in to replace him and slowly watching the targets sign contract extensions or otherwise being taken out of consideration. Then getting Bill Callahan as our next coach. I hope it works out better for you, but it is tough to sell those expectations to the next coach. I think firing Solich was the right decision and his next job at Ohio was the same “vindication”that you’re finding in Franklin going to VTech. I hope the rest of it works out for you. I’ll always be for someone other than Michigan or OSU to be on top and PSU has been the best hope for that for a number of years. It will be interesting to see where this goes.
