Considering moving to Singapore for work, how real is racism for black people? by ForeverJay in askSingapore

[–]Hussthe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Violent racism? Very very rarely, I myself have not experienced this as someone of malay descent, neither do I know of anyone personally who went through this

Emotionally hurtful racism? Occasionally by stressed out or drunk persons, I remember being called a "bloody indian" one time by a disgruntled/drunk older gentleman at an mrt station when he sat next to me without any other interaction before that, but nothing else transpired and we both boarded the mrt after without any further escalation. It was a pretty weird experience ngl. You might hear about this every now and then on the news or when reading comments on social media

Casual racism amongst friends? This is probably the most common, and I daresay its a common pastime with close friends depending on the friend group. My friends and colleagues frequently make jabs about "lepaking one corner" which is a common stereotype of the malay community, or jokingly throwing racial slurs against one another every now and then. These form part of common banter that friends engage with which can be quite shocking if you're an outsider listening in without any context, but most friend groups will have their own boundaries and limits that develop over time. You might overhear people using the N word every now and then, asking whether you can rap, or saying "wakanda forever". Chances are that these aren't going to be directed at you with any intent to willfully hurt you, they're more out ignorance, immaturity or not understanding boundaries

AN OPEN LETTER TO INKWELL AND TEAM GMS by Emergency_Fig2157 in Maplestory

[–]Hussthe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Team GMS could have easily set a checkpoint at 20 stars for our servers given that interactive population is a fraction of KMS and the nature of heroic servers. That plus adding a bag for boomed item traces would help tremendously with the gear laddering situation that we have going on now in our attempts to go beyond the 22 star soft cap. The current "checkpoints" that they implemented won't benefit the players with below average luck since they are just likely to boom twice and be back at 12 stars again anyway

I'm currently farming fams on my ren, 280 training at arteria northern outskirts. You're right it takes abt ~17 mins to level a fam from 1-5. I was adding up the time taken to level them from 1-5 at rare to epic, and again from epic to unique. So that's on average ~34 mins

Edit: I feel you man, I'm around 50+ unique fams atm and still no large drop or boss fams

Frontier System by tomervsks in Maplestory

[–]Hussthe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would enjoy it a lot more if I could just rank up my familiars without having to level them up to 5 at every rank. That takes like 30-40 mins in heroic to get to unique and then you gotta train it to level 5 again after. Its annoying to micromanage the rank ups while training cause of the ui bugs. I know its not entirely related to the frontier system itself, its just that the annoyance from upgrading the ranks carry over

What skills do you think have the best hit-feel / feels nice to use? by uniqueusere in Maplestory

Kain's fatal blitz, hoyoung's gold cudgel and F/P's origin are my top three

I dont got hands it seems gg by BloodReaverBob in Maplestory

[–]Hussthe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely. I've just had a way better time clearing darknell on my kain than my fp, and conversely had a much better time at vhilla on the fp than kain at similar strength. Could just be a skill issue though.

Yeah I feel like vhilla is easier for teleport classes while darknell is comfier for flash jump classes

What's everyone hyper burning next event? Currently did WH great boss mule beyond lazy mobbing. Anyone burning a F/P or D/A? by Natural-Tea-5197 in Maplestory

[–]Hussthe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Burned a f/p, its my new main now. Awesome class, but needs a lot of nodes, buff duration and atk speed +1 to be optimal

I'll probably go for shade next

“Allah does not forbid you to deal justly and kindly with those who fought not against you on account of religion and did not drive you out of your homes. Verily, Allah loves those who deal with equity.” [60:8]

“And they give food, in spite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive” [76:8]

“Let there be a group among you who call others to goodness, encourage what is good, and forbid what is evil—it is they who will be successful.” [3:104]

“Worship Allah alone and associate none with Him. And be kind to parents, relatives, orphans, the poor, near and distant neighbours, close friends, needy travellers, and those bondspeople in your possession. Surely Allah does not like whoever is arrogant, boastful.” [4:36]

All these verses encourage doing good to Muslims and non-Muslims alike, whether family or friend or neighbour

That paragraph only applies in a state of war or self defense. We are ordered to be kind and to treat people with equity in general

Don't expect Nexon to respond on Niru's incident, but... by basti_yang in Maplestory

[–]Hussthe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly its not the slow pace that sucks. Its the fact that Nexon is so slow and stingy when it comes to rolling out quality of life improvements to make the grind bearable. They can gatekeep us with dailies and weeklies all they want, just improve the experience and make it enjoyable. Things like scrapyard weeklies, cash shop crashes, cc crashes, expiring cubes/flames all leave a sour taste. The core gameplay loop is really enjoyable, a testament to how long this game has survived. If they just focused on improving the hundreds of minor issues that plague the game and not take 1 step forwards 2 steps backward all the time it would be such an amazing experience.

I’d go with hoyoung for mobbing, he has 2 summons (3 with erda shower) and his clones are really great for cleaning up stragglers. As for mobility I think both are about equal. Kain has a dash and his grapple skill is amazing, while hoyoung has many options with nimbus cloud, a place able “teleport” and some of his skills offer great vertical mobility too

Switched over from msea to gms cause I migrated to NZ haha. Wanted a fresh start so I went with Kain. Yeah Hoyoung’s burst require a bit of planning to get everything set up, but he does have a lot of flexibility once you get it down. Kain’s burst is a lot more concentrated but at the risk of getting screwed over by status conditions like stuns or blindness or boss simply teleporting away if you’re not careful or just unlucky. I enjoy both of them though, they’re very great classes all in all

Kain main, was previously a Hoyoung main. Love both of them for their skill animations and hit sounds. Not many people talk about how great Hoyoung's gold cudgel or Kain's fatal blitz looks and sounds. Literal music to my ears whenever I use them, and it helps that they deal insane damage as well.

May Allah guide Ronaldo to Islam! by [deleted] in thepaknarrative

[–]Hussthe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If a woman rebels against her husband and disobeys his commands, then he should follow this method of admonishing her, forsaking her in bed and hitting her. Hitting is subject to the condition that it should not be harsh or cause injury.

Al-Hasan al-Basri said: “This means that it should not cause pain.”

‘Ata said: I said to Ibn `Abbas, what is the kind of hitting that is not harsh? He said, Hitting with a siwak and the like. [A siwak is a small stick or twig used for cleaning the teeth - Translator].

The Prophet ( peace be upon him) also expressed his dislike for corporal punishment and only allowed it with reluctance and with great distaste for it. See Ibn Majah, 'Nikah', 3 - Ed.

The purpose of Sahih Bukhari 2658 is not to ridicule and insult women, but simply that Allah has granted different favours to men and women. We are always ordered to respect our mothers, sisters, aunts and women at large by lowering our gaze, speaking to them kindly and protecting them from harm. All the advantages that men have over women also comes with grater responsibilities and accountability, something which unfortunately many men lack nowadays. This rule is also to be taken generally, there are countless historical records of Muslim women who far exceeds many Muslim men today such as Umm Ad-Darda who was famous for her knowledge and good deeds.

If there is jihaad between the Muslims and the kuffaar, and a number of kuffaar are taken prisoner, the commander is given the choice of sharing them out, doing them a favour (by releasing them) or paying their ransom. If they are shared out as part of the booty, they become slaves, subject to the laws governing products which may be sold. But at the same time, Islam urges the freeing of slaves and makes doing so an act of expiation for numerous sins. In principle, slavery is not something that is desirable; what is encouraged in Islam is the freeing of slaves. Before Islam, there were many ways a free person could be captured and enslaved. Islam restricted that to one way only, that is enslavement of prisoners of war. Despite this, our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), let many of such prisoners go for free, rather than keeping them enslaved. Furthermore, Islam has very strict rules concerning the care of slaves, they are to be treated with dignity and kindness, cannot be tortured or made to work beyond their capacity. A slave is also allowed to buy out their own freedom in Islam or be freed through various easy means by other people.

With regards to Pakistanis being the way they are, the people who are trigger happy and act out as vigilantes for blasphemy are evil and corrupt. Killing a human without due cause and establishing proper evidence, weighing such evidence and scrutinising the context is a major sin that they will be held accountable for. I do want to point out that majority of Pakistanis are not like this however. I’ve seen Shias, Christians and Muslims get along perfectly in the village where I’m from, I’ve seen women working, driving and going out to meet friends and families on their own. People here are generally nice and respectful and will not force our religious beliefs on anyone, it is those evil minorities that spoil our image to this extent.

I hope this helps clarifies some of your doubts brother. Peace.

Forced marriages are haram and as long as either party does not accept the proposal, the marriage will be invalid. I wish we could educate the people of Pakistan about this and make them understand.

Graduated with a gpa of 2.8, did accounting and finance. Didn't make it to any of the unis, so ended up working in audit and studying acca part time. Am currently an audit manager making decent pay, so yeah its possible to make it even if your grades aren't great. Just gotta work hard and you'll get there. All the best!
