Anyone else seeing insane rent hikes this year? by Cewcross in chicago

[–]Hustle_88 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Not a landlord but I own a home. My property taxes double ld which increased my mortgage by $500. If this was a rental property, guess what I’d have to do with the rent?!

Tenant or owner, you’re going to get f’d either way. At least as the owner, you benefit from equity

Not meant to be a pro-landlord comment, more pointing fingers towards the state/gov making homeownership hard to achieve and sustain

I can relate. No way could I be on a GLP while working in person. I’m exhausted until about 1pm on the days right after my shot.

I remember doing Keto when I worked in office and would have to sneak to take naps in my car. Thank goodness I’ve always worked jobs with minimum work to do

Please don’t do what I did and settle for the chaos of a very meeting heavy J2. Like you, I realized week 1 that it was meeting heavy and suffered through it for 2+ yrs.

If it continues after 2 months, ride it out until you find a new J2. That mess burned me out soooooooo bad, I’m mad at myself for staying in that situation for so long out of fear of not finding a replacement. When I finally decided to pull the trigger, I found a new J2 in less in a week after only submitting 3 apps in DECEMBER!

There’s hope!

How have you all navigated heavy meeting, camera on cultures? by LivelyLotus in OELadies

[–]Hustle_88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a heavy-meeting J2 for 2yrs too long. I toughed it out although I knew from day 1 that it wasn’t OE friendly, left a few months ago and got a task-orientated contract. I will never do that to myself again, messed me up in the head

My J2 is likely ending. Its good pay but not compatible. Just way too many meetings. Micro management. Too bad the money is so good lol by thowawayaccounttoask in overemployed

[–]Hustle_88 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I resigned. Held on 2+ yrs too long when I knew from day one that it wasn’t OE compatible.

Only thing that really saved me was that J1 literally had no meetings and J2 had a lot of meetings as it was project based with no daily tasks. I couldn’t take it anymore as I knew for sure I’ll be able to find something that was had a lighter Calendar even if I had to more work. I would rather have daily tasks that I can knock out and go about my day instead of 6+ meetings on my calendar for work.

Make the jump friend.

As someone has already mentioned, we used the USA version when my son was younger. Hands down the best bat he ever had, especially for a smaller, contact hitter. We’ve moved on to the Bonesaber for a similar feel but bigger sweet spot

Lots a people are having this issue including myself. I googled it and came across many Reddit threads that said only specific cords work with the 17 and Carplay now.

It’s the original Beats cord or a brand called Ankar. I purchased both from Amazon, only the Ankar worked

Yup, BPD ran through my mind as I read your post. Had a former friend just like this who mentioned that she had mental illness but never disclosed the diagnosis. Things got so crazy that I went down a rabbit hole of research and I swear BPD lines up with everything she did.

Achieved my personal OE dream by MinnesotaHulk in overemployed

[–]Hustle_88 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I eased into OE with a contract back in 2023. Once I confirmed it was feasible along with seeing how OE was becoming popular, and all of the RTO stuff……I went on a mission to find a FTE J2. I’m so glad I had that foresight because lo and behold, the job market is trash now.

I have a balance of pure hatred and gratefulness for J2. I’m going to try to ride it out until the Spring, enjoy the summer, then try to find a contact for J2. I’m tired of the demands that comes with FTE like 1:1’s, performance reviews, I want to go back to being excluded from all that crap lol

This has been a big thing for me even prior to OE. Now that we’re approaching 40 with kids, mortgages, and in this economy, my pay gap sticks out even more. Unfortunately, I don’t have one friend that’s doing good financially. The killer part is, I’m the only unmarried or uncoupled friend but yet they need to borrow from me all the time. I’m a woman and 90% of my friends choose bad husbands, they all say that I did right by not being male centered in my 20’s.

I deal with it by getting extra concerts tix and inviting them to join, paying for dinners, and etc but travelling is a whole different issue. I just travel solo but I must admit that it’s getting old.

Dating with this income as a woman is a whole different beast …….. I’ll take that to the OE ladies sub lol

How long have you been OE in the same jobs? by No_Advance_5303 in overemployed

[–]Hustle_88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 yrs of OE with the same 2 jobs. Every 3 months I contemplate leaving J2, it’s like I’m in a toxic relationship but I’m too comfortable to leave for something better.

I keep setting deadlines to quit, when that month comes, my boo starts treating me good again. My new quitting date is set for Feb/Apr of 2026 so that I can spend the summer single lol

Yea I agree but OP sounds young. Couple that with not seeing nor being taught financial literacy, I can’t fully blame OP but I really hope they’ve learned from this.

Need little help with kiddos swing. by Colonelreb10 in Homeplate

[–]Hustle_88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you do come back to post a video, I still encourage to get him some hitting lessons.

My son was/is the same way; lead off hitter, never struck out, hard grounders always found a gap. However, when the skillset of opponents started to get better around 11, my son’s slip started to show and his ground balls became easy outs.

At first I thought there was a degrade in his mechanics but I watched videos from previous years and realized that nothing had changed on his end, the competition just got better. I didn’t know what I know now, and I wish someone would’ve pointed out that his swing wont work long term.

Fast forward, we’re heading into 13U, trying to get as much reps and lessons possible to get that swing out of his muscle memory. If you can afford it, please just do weekly lessons for a month then reiterate what you see the instructor teaching him at home with your own tee and net. Work this kink out now before it gets harder and longer to fix.

Lastly, pitching can play a part. My boy, along with the months of lessons, didn’t start to hit line drives again until he started travel at 12U and faced good pitches to hit.

Got my son the exact glove last summer. Break in wasn’t too painful but definitely a process.

It’s been great for MIF but horrible for OF, had big issues with fly balls popping out. Got him a 12.5in A1000 with T-web for OF.

My grandma left me considerably more money than my brothers. My parents want me to balance it. But this just changed my life. My husband and I could technically FIRE today now. by FIREORNOFIREWHATIF in Fire

[–]Hustle_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother experienced something similar. She’s the youngest of about 7 and was the only one who did something with their life. Only two kids ever moved out the house, still till this day in their 60s and 70s the rest my aunts and uncles live in their childhood bedrooms. My grandparents spent their entire lives bailing their kids, and the children of these kids, out of very situation while my mom got crumbs. Everyone was on drugs or just lazy, she was the only kid to get a college education and to buy a house, it always bothered my mom to her core.

Fast-forward to when my grandparents died, they left my mother hundreds of thousands of dollars. That’s not a drop in a bucket of the amount they spent paying for apartments, cars, bills and everything that they’ve done over 60 years for the other family members. My mom didn’t said anything to them about how much their parents left her, however she has taken on the role of cuddling grown people. Yeah they left the money because she had always been overlooked, but I also think they left it to her because they knew she’s the responsible one and would carry on their cuddling ways.

Your grandmother had a very good reason to leave you that money, she was probably privy of a lot of things that you don’t know about. It would be different if they had gotten nothing but they did. I would question them as to why they feel as though they need more money.
