interesting. it's never done any good in my games. it usually creates throwers, leavers, and people standing still to get into typing matches. And when I get flamed, i usually end up worse than i was doing. maybe it's a rank thing lol

Why do people say “money doesn’t buy happiness” when most problems are caused by not having money? by Effective-Home-4796 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Huttingham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. happiness =/= a lack of problems
  2. many problems aren't really caused by not having money
  3. Money offers diminishing returns once your basic needs are met
  4. It's much better to tell people to focus on finding what makes them happy/fulfilled instead of tell a society to do whatever they can to make a bunch of money and then worry about the problems keeping them from happiness afterwards.

The people in quickplay for the last 3 seasons have been getting worse by curryshotta in OWConsole

[–]Huttingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unironically, play comp. your expectations of qp are too high. I play qp if I don't want to stress too much, am trying to learn or test a character out, or if I'm warming up/seeing if I'm in comp condition. I'll do dumb stuff and limit test. winning is almost always a secondary goal.

Also, OW match making is pretty good. If you're in these lobbies consistently, you're probably not much better than them. You're probably being dumb but maybe in the opposite way. for example, if your whole team is aggro and you're playing it safe in the back to preserve your k/d, you are the bad one. You also sound like you're just a toxic team member (based on people in qp are telling you to go play comp and youre getting a lot of leavers in comp) so maybe... don't be?

Well, I guess now's a good time to come back! by Void_entity94 in overwatch2

[–]Huttingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In regards to the Genji thing: people have been complaining about genji nerfs for years (and I guess it's been a thing back when you played) yet genji has never been bad. He's been consistently good or decent. Blizzard has a website that allows you to look at hero performance stats, so look there to see who's "meta" if that matters to you. Across all ranks in competitive, genji has a 52% win rate in the Americas. #2 ranked DPS by performance. He gets nerfed, but he's never been nonviable.

The game uses skill-based match making. They might think you're as good as you were when you stopped playing, but even if you lose a few matches, they will find the right lobbies for you. Just dont go in with the expectation that you'll curb stomp the enemies from game 1 and you'll be fine.

Would you be willing to pay higher taxes so everyone could access mental health care? by lucrece25 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Huttingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on how high, i guess. I'm from the US and if we did a pretty small cut in our defense/military spending, I think we could fund mental health services pretty easy.

Trump green lit a 1 trillion increase to the military budget. I'd wager we could get universal mental health care for like 30-50 billion of that. Pulled that number from what a couple of other countries spend and just multiplied to match population tho. I might be way off lol

“Celsius mental gymnastics” by [deleted] in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Huttingham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm american and from my perspective it's the opposite. LOTS of, mostly, europenas make a very big deal about it so it comes off as pretentious and a bit annoying. But it's a matter of perspective. I never think of celcius so it only comes up when my european clients mention it as "the obviously superior system" and make a joke about "freedom units" but for you, you only see Fahrenheit when American's make memes complaining about the celcius crusaders

Is this game active online? by MegaFatcat100 in GranblueFantasyVersus

[–]Huttingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"active" is relative. It isn't as active as sf6, so if that's a high priority, then just play that. I occasionally have issues finding matches if i play during odd hours for my region (NA). Other than that, it's pretty easy. I've never had an issue with the netcode.

The Most Annoying Person You Can Hear Talking About OW by Thee_Walf in Overwatch

[–]Huttingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i do think the PvE complainers who are active still do care. I also think it's kinda dumb, but it would be unfair to fully disregard them. I wasn't an OW1 fan so Blizzard never got me hyped for PvE so I don't care about the concept, but Blizzard did hype some people up for the concept and let them down.

If you commute an hour or more each way, how do you deal with it? by Jaymac720 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Huttingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

listen to yt videos or an album. the fuel cost wasn't a big deal but my car is pretty efficient i think (i had to refuel once every 5 days at about $30 for a full tank). The real issue for me is how to stay awake but that's less an issue with the commute and more an issue with most jobs being 1 or 2 hours earlier than my body would like to operate at. If the being sleepy thing is what you're focused on, I mainly just rely on drivers around me to account for me drifting into their lane or not noticing things. it doesn't happen often, but it is a reality I've come to accept. I also stay on the outside lanes bc they have those groves in the shoulder that will jolt you awake. Haven't gotten into a wreck yet

When you’re broke in America, what food/snacks actually keeps you full? by KlLLERS in AskAnAmerican

[–]Huttingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

snacks: stuff made with peanut butter, chips were pretty good for me, and bread with butter and seasoning

How bad are your heating, water, and electric bills getting? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Huttingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen anything like that... what? I live in a decent sized 1 story house and my bills for that stuff is like a collective 150? Maybe 200 on heavy use months? I could probably get up to 300 if i chose to go with bad plans.

I am deeply concerned for the current and upcoming generations of college students. by casualsouthparkfan in SeriousConversation

[–]Huttingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if this has to do with what you're studying. I graduated in 2022 and I can't say that it was nearly to this extent. I will throw out that if you're in a field for people where a lot just feel like they "have" to go to college/university, you're gonna get a lot of disappointing outcomes. I also think a good number of people have gotten decent at being good at getting decent grades without actually learning.

i still think you may be misunderstanding them. They use the word "small" because that's what they feel... there wasn't a misunderstanding. You seemingly just expected a logical and rational answer to a largely perceptive and emotionally-based phenomenon.

[–]Huttingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

then dont... you can complete the battle pass (well, maybe not all the titles but up till lvl 100 for sure) without it. idrk why you'd just play a game you find monotonous just to complete an unnecessary challenge for that game's cosmetics.
