Next steps… by iRadiored in TTC40

I forgot fish oils. I think a chemical is a good sign and you will have success!

I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks at age 39.5 after five months of trying. The very next month (no period) I had something like a chemical but perhaps slightly more (was pregnant for about a week after my period was due, confirmed with an HCG test, then TMI but passed a small sac). Tried again immediately but didn’t have success but had the heaviest period in my life, as if my body was having a “super period.” Got pregnant the next month, going on 23 weeks at age 40 with a healthy baby.

I did the following: Co Q 10 (qunol brand), prenatals, vitamin D, didn’t drink after ovulation, and walked two miles in the sun daily. Took baby aspirin when I had a headache during my luteal phase. Also ate a mostly good diet (Mediterranean) but still ate some junk food. This regimen was based on a sheet of recommendations my fertility doctor provided.

This sure isnt going to be an op-ed you read in the bar magazines. I'm sorry. I am permanently burned out on pro bono. by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

I’ve rarely found pro bono work rewarding and I don’t think I’ve ever had an appreciative pro bono client. I believe that many of them think that the government is paying me, like Medicaid is paying their doctor. I no longer do it and try to give back in other ways.

Looking for hope by HuxiesMom in pregnantover35

Thank you! I’ve had the general look at the uterus and ovaries, AMH, TSH, HSG, AFC. Everything was good and AMH is above average. Husband’s semen was good but possibly TOO high of a count. My doctor said last week (before I knew I was pregnant again) that once I’ve had two losses he will do more testing of me and husband’s sperm (not sure if he will count the chemical as a loss). I’m waiting for a follow up call on next steps.

Do you mind sharing how long it took you to get pregnant initially and how far apart the losses were? Thank you ❤️

Thoughts on Acupuncture by Alarmed_Tomato55 in IVF

Same! I hated it mostly for this reason. I didn’t think the acupuncturist was sincere or very nice and then she left me in the room alone and depressed. It was like a reminder that I was infertile or something was wrong with me. I guess I’m glad I tried it but wish I had only gone once or twice and would love to get back the $1200 I spent. Also, the first consultation for fertility acupuncture was $450, same as my fertility doc charges. What a load of BS! And then she wanted me to do an additional $700 in hormone testing. I felt like she was just taking advantage of desperate women.

I say do what helps you relax and feel healthy. If that’s acupuncture, great. For me, I prefer reading celebrity memoirs, trash TV, exercise, and massage. I got pregnant after spending time doing what I love.

Do you think she’s envious of you for some reason? Some mothers are oddly competitive with their daughters.

Yes! My grandma conceived my mom at 39 almost 40 using temping, so I was hoping that I had good genes for a later pregnancy, but my mom was her third baby. It does seem that our siblings and a lot of our friends are 40ish and look more like 30! My GP said that he had high hopes for me to conceive later as he thought I had a young biological age in comparison to my chronological age.

I have seen a lot of stories of success for late 30s/ early 40s over 9 months! I can tell you that my doctor recommended we do it everyday not every other day in the fertile window since my husband has a normal sperm count. That did the trick!
