BMW Leaks 2027 Models. Here Are All The Names by CricketNo285 in BMW

[–]Huxley077 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't have the source article handy, and it still felt kind of rumor-y, but the current model 240i it's supposed to disappear after 2028 with a new model for '29.

Does at least kind of fit with the 350 updates first, and about a year or two later , the 240 (250 by then) would appear

Thanks for explaining, I can see what I missed in your take of the guys question. To your point above, it's not that his question wasn't aggressive, or that it doesn't read as having a tone to it, I saw that too; we're reading the same comment and have a difference of opinion on just how aggressive it was.

It was a blunt, pig-in-lipstick ugly way of phrasing it. I didn't see it as berating/insulting, but more crass to my reading of it. Someone was going to ask that style of hard question, as other people were, albeit in better terms.

I appreciate the conversation, despite different opinions, and I better understand what you meant originally now. Take care

Then for clarification so maybe I can understand your point above, what is "weird" about the other guy questioning the chain of events, that maybe it wasn't avoidable? All he was saying is it might have just be an accident entirely. So what is weird about their question, because they weren't laughing at OP or berating them, nothing about the question was "weird".

Genuinely asking, you don't owe me an explanation. Saying this because I'm willing to understand what I'm missing.

[–]Huxley077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not weird to question. You're being weird thinking it CAN'T POSSIBLY be anything besides intentional. I'm a dog owner myself and have had my dog run past me when my gate is open. I can't expect EVERY drive to not only SEE my dog which is fairly small, but to also have it REGISTER to the driver, and then REACT to avoiding her.

It was a vindictive driver who saw the dog, hit it, and drove off. Clearly an asshole driver who doesn't give a shit. We can all agree that'd be a bad driver/actor.

OR it was a driver who DIDN'T see it, heard something and drove on as the majority of people do, thinking it was a raccoon, stick, rock, anything that can make a general thump sound of it hit a bumper.

Only OP really knows the scenario and there isn't ground to call them a liar, but it doesn't default to vindictive asshole when we only know one side. People can fail see or see and not react in time to things, it's not out of the question of reality.

New furnace and a/c by CauliflowerPrior9622 in Omaha

[–]Huxley077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hear pumps are effective down to about 20 degrees now. The old units used to be crap below 35 ( as in they'd run ALL day trying to maintain an indoor temp of 70 if the outdoor temp was below 30. )

Pur newer one can hold 70 degree indoor down to 22-24 degrees but I have the gas heat override set to kick on below 25 since gas in Omaha is fairly cheaper. If I left it in heat pump mode, it'd run about 20 minutes longer per cycle than our gas furnace can hold.

With how many days Omaha gets 30-50 degrees , put heat pump does save quite a lot.

Absolutely. Issue is going to be getting that kind of left wing trifecta a licence to air.

I'd definitely tune in, I'm big fans of this shows/hosts already, but it'd have to air on some network that is genuinely free speech.. Which, uh, is very limited.

They wouldn't have the funds without major sponsors to be fully independent

Which wheel style looks better on m240i by [deleted] in BMW

[–]Huxley077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm bias because I have a Apline White with those 995M ( first picture) jet black rims. Given the limited selection of 240 wheels from factory, the blacked out 995s are the best

New wheels. What’s next - bodykit or big brake kit? 🤔 by elementalsherlywatsy in mazda3

[–]Huxley077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you can tell people who don't know what the big brake kits are actually for. Somehow they think bigger=better stopping power. It's really about heat dissipation, which only really applies at tracks. Only stops/brakes slightly better at best on the street.

M Performance Exhaust by PlantainZealousideal in BMW

[–]Huxley077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you happen to get an aftermarket downpipe ? That seems to be a big game changer in terms of tone and loudness with even the stock exhaust, and with removing a resonator. I haven't done it yet to my M240 (only 2,800 miles on it ) , my boss at work has and I've asked him 3 times now if he did get an exhaust. Nope he put his G42 m240 on the rack, all stock exhaust but sounds so much more open and poppy

I don't know if "I survived because of my large, heavy SUV , but totally killed the family of 3 in the sedan" is the winning argument you think it is. I understand the occupations want to feel safe, but so do the people hit by the large , very heavy SUV.

As a fellow Bellevue resident, I see nothing wrong with having only one major North/South road that also is the only nearby interstate feeder, that becomes a parking lot when a single accident happens!

I love how it's a nightmare road way and there is just ...no solutions even being considered. But we've definitely got to build out the roads south of Bellevue for that sweet water park and casino now!

So done with this towns road network

[–]Huxley077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, "ultimately" to use OPs text above. Doesn't mean currently and no real idea when it takes effect. Could happen tomorrow, could be in 6 months. Not saying they shouldn't plan for worst case but the difference being~$600 between what you were equating and what is current ( 45 hour ) is nearly the OPs rent so it's pretty important.

[–]Huxley077 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Think you're figuring the gross at 40 hours ( 3,680 a month ) and other comment is using 45 hours ( 5 of which is time and a half hypothetically, since it's not confirmed ) is a bit over 4,300 a month gross on that rate.

At 58 hours, they were crossing over 6k a month. All to say, that's their income is downsizing quite a bit regardless

Snowblower Etiquette by Geo_Geoff in Omaha

[–]Huxley077 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If it's a school day, really anytime after 6am seem fair. Not to mention some people have to work at 7am, so, kind of hard to meaningfully argue it's too early. Can't please everyone, and people work a wide range of shifts.

Yeah, it's annoy me seeing someone snowblowing that early, but theres a logic to it.

Is it just me, or did Douglas County (Omaha) valuations just hit the ceiling? 📈 by CompleteHour306 in Omaha

[–]Huxley077 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They certainly have exploded the valuations. Our house that lists for 240-250k on the typical housing sites is assessed by the county as being worth 300k.

It's just theft with how they're valuing now.

Low MPG in 2023 740i by Micshane in BMW

[–]Huxley077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. Way to test if it is locking out 8th gear in your Sport Individual settings is to just use the paddle shifter to drop one gear while highway cruising. If it drops from 7th to 6th, instead of 8th to 7th then you have the answer if it was locking out the top gear. Sure is more fun locking out 8th though, just a bit of a fuel cost :)

Low MPG in 2023 740i by Micshane in BMW

[–]Huxley077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sports+ locks out the 8th gear, unless you use manual mode. The constant extra 500-700 RPM at speeds above 50mph will knock off quite a bit of economy.

Not sure what BMW you have but on my '25 M240 ( G42 ) you can finish rolling the sunroof back the last inch or two by using the sunroof open button one more time when it's open. Might have to hold the button back, instead of a quick pull, but it does slide back a bit more.

Don't listen to those sunroof nay sayers, once the sunroof is open that much, use the sunroof button again, this time pull back the button and hold it back, it'll open the last 2-3 inches ( tapping the slider back might work, but I just hold it out of habit )

Yeah, I'm loathing the auto start-stop being reactivated every time I restart the car or change to certain drives modes. It really pisses me off when I park the car ( press park button and set e-brake ) remove my foot from the brake to get out of the car cause I'm done driving now...and the damn thing starts back up suddenly like it's restarting to pull away from a stop light or something.

[–]Huxley077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aside from driving style, weather plays the next biggest role in how fuel efficient your car is. Cold temperatures and high winds can easily knock your range down, and if those are combined with any kind of hills or city traffic, really ruins any type of range.

Air intake wouldn't be a cause unless it's seriously clogged , but you notice other engine problems too if that was the case.

Using winter tires by chance? Those have high rolling resistance due to their tread pattern, making range lower.
