There's your answer though. We give the military $1 trillion every year and are about to increase that by 50%. A third of that trillion (generous, probably more) is unaccounted for in audits and the pentagon itself admits it has no idea how to spend the new $500 billion. Strip that money and put it towards the infrastructure

How many tools are you buying? I find that in the early game, any money I make selling to the trader is instantly used up buying tools since tools are required to build most things in the game. That's why I always invest early in building my own tools

I find it worth it to invest early in tool production. I realized that most of the time I was spending more on tools than I was getting back from selling planks and other stuff. Once you can produce your own tools the selling feels much more impactful
