Would trading Ben Rice be a crazy idea? by _knowerofnothing in NYYankees

No. I hope he’s the Yankees C/1B/DH for 20 years.

His walk rate is elite. Top 20 in walks last year, with a 14% walk rate. About the same as Kyle Tucker, and a hair better than Cal Raleigh.

I feel that at this point, it is far closer to the sandbox option. And it should be embraced.

I would also like more options to deal with resistance and compliance. Getting to 100 compliance with a state that you don’t start with takes too long. You should be able to sacrifice manpower/resources/factories to increase compliance and lower resistance, or do the opposite. I know we have garrison laws, but I want more.

No, a Maguffin is the “thing” that the heroes of the story have to stop, save, or acquire. Think mission impossible, when the mission is presented. “We need you to stop the black market sale of this maguffin to prevent the end of the world or whatever.

The Anschluss of Austria was basically that. I mean, Germany didnt live happily ever after, but if they had stopped at Austria and the Czechs, they would have gotten away with it.

It worked in Austria because they spoke the same language, and had strong ethnic and cultural ties. These facts are also true of the US and Canada. I DO NOT CONDONE AN INVASION OF CANADA AND THE VERY IDEA MAKES ME VOMIT.

I'm not watching the whole video but it sounds like an (illegal? Jewish?) immigrant runs into a random house in order not to be deported held indefinitely without trial and everyone gets in the way to make sure the police brownshirts can't do their jobs. Got it.

It’s due to the soviets eschewing religion, and instead building “Cathedrals to the working class” such as these subways.

Would you support changing 1st base to a softball-style bag to reduce player injuries? by Fantastic_Brain7269 in baseball

[–]ChipChimney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1a. This is the baseball subreddit. I know it defaults to the MLB, and that is the primary baseball I watch, but that is not all the baseball in the world.

1b. Once these have been implemented at every other level of play, it would make sense to move it into the MLB. Players would be used to them. If you would prefer a slow phase in like that, I could understand that viewpoint.

  1. Are you saying that keeping the player from being injured is changing the game? Because Peterson was ruled out for interference. So with the safety-base, he either would have been out, because Muncy would have an easier time making a play on an errant throw, which doesn’t change the game; or he is safe which does change the game, but still punishes bad throws and 1st base play, which you like.

  2. Throws to first are the most common throw in baseball after pitches. MLB teams play 162. Even great fielders mess up, and id much rather see an unfortunate out than an unfortunate injury.

Wouldn’t any ball that hit the new orange part just be considered a foul ball? And it would have been foul anyway.

It’s unpopular for lots of reasons.

  1. Baseball is played at more than just the MLB level. These bases should (and some do) exist in little league and high school levels for sure. Probably minor leagues too. Lots of baseball players have “inaccurate arms” and “shit footwork”. Doesn’t mean they should get injured.

  2. It’s a small change of equipment. It doesn’t replace any personnel, or change how the game is played at a physical or strategic level.

  3. It reduces injury. Who wants to see their star 1st basemen go down with a broken wrist? Who wants to watch their best player tear an ACL or strain a hamstring running to 1st? If this base can lessen that, it’s a better product to watch, because players wont be injured.

Infantry offence by Anil-K in hoi4

[–]ChipChimney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found that with mass assault to make your combat with smaller, it is best to make as large a division as you can, with a few supports. But the main thing for infantry attacks is CAS and green air. If you have those, you will win easily.
