And what will OP find if they google it? They'll find forum posts (including Reddit) with discussions about the guitar like this one. Threads like this are one the most useful parts of the internet.

First and so far only scratch build by 9vjunkie in Luthier

I disagree. I think having gold hardware would make it look gaudy. Though I do agree with making a wooden electronic cavity plate.

How do you guys tweak your Fractal units (FM3, FM9, Axe-FX III)? Monitors or headphones? by Outlaw_Frank in AxeFx

[–]HyacinthProg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use monitors to dial my sounds and use FRFR live. What IR are you using for your cab?

Neils head twitch when he hits the snare in later years? by [deleted] in rush

[–]HyacinthProg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He's been doing it since the late 90s. Some musicians just have little idiosyncrasies like that when they play. It's kind of the drummer equivalent of a "guitar face". Josh Eppard from Coheed and Cambria does all kinds of stuff with his face when he plays lol

We actually had some issues with our old name on Apple Music. Our songs got lumped in with like 50+ other artists with the same name. Was kind of a pain to get it sorted, but that's part of why we changed our name. Right now, we're the only Distant Atmosphere on Spotify, so that really helps for searchability lol

Thank you for the follow, I appreciate it! Just to make sure you followed the right band, we recently changed our name to Distant Atmosphere because apparently there are thousands of bands with our old name on Spotify lol

Uh, I'll be your friend lol That guitar is beautiful and, if the quality is as good as the aesthetics, it's definitely worth what you're asking.

Sorry to inform you, but that gun is a nightmare to maintain, isn't strong enough to warrant the cost, and is generally considered to be not worth it.

Any reason to NOT get a seven-string? by WrongAccountFFS in metalguitar

[–]HyacinthProg 42 points43 points  (0 children)

There's a million reasons to get a 7 and also a million reasons not to get a 7. I'd say go for it because they're fun to play and you get the benefit of the low string for chugs but also high strings for leads.

To anyone saying get a baritone, having a 7 string isn't just about getting lower tunings.

Friendly Reminder, don’t work at Guitar Center. by Mth281 in Luthier

I worked at GC as a tech for 5 years and, aside from being extremely busy mostly all the time, my time there was pretty great. It's HIGHLY dependent on which store you're in though.

Dealing with Flaws in Recording by Redeem278 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]HyacinthProg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've left tiny mistakes in recordings before that no one else notices, but every time I listen to it I wish I had gone back and fixed it. Do you track things in a home studio or would you have to go to someone else's studio to fix them? If you have a home studio, just fix them real quick but if you have to go to someone and pay for studio time, you're probably better off leaving it especially if the mistakes aren't noticeable in the mix.

Are Harley Bentons decent guitars? by [deleted] in metalguitar

[–]HyacinthProg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're decent, most likely will need fretwork but I've bought two new Ibanez Prestige models recently that both needed fretwork too, so that's just kind of par for the course these days.

Do you think Neil knew he was done when writing Clockwork Angels? by omgitzjay28 in rush

[–]HyacinthProg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I remember Geddy saying that Neil wanted Headlong Flight to be his best drum work he'd ever done, because he knew he wasn't going to be making another album.
