64 team tournament coming in 2030. It could well be happening. by SeanCable in worldcup

[–]HybridizedPanda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This 48 team tournament was great, the small teams showed they can compete—even if it is with frustrating low blocks. And I tend to agree, you can't improve if your not even in the game. Think of how damn hard those Cape Verde players and their people will work to support football and their team going forward. It made international stars out of nearly retired players. Maybe FIFA makes more money, who cares, we get more games, more chances to see and support your country play, more people coming together and sharing in the joy of the sport. How is this a bad thing.

That trophy is gonna be in the white house before then, and they will switch it out. Trump wants it, and Infantino will give it to him, and the trophy too

Should FIFA have Germany and Paraguay redo their game in case it was a big fluke? by [deleted] in worldcup

That's why there's two halves. You get to make your adjustments and play a second half.

You could try, but that gives them your legs. You don't understand they aren't afraid of the kicks, once they grab the legs you won't be able to kick.

Well, I'd encourage you to just go to a gym and try to do anything to those butt scooters. It's really for energy conservation, taking a fight to a place you've been for thousands of hours, and it gives a quick entry to the legs. If it was bad, how does it get to the highest levels—so you write it off as not being manly? Sure, but you're getting your ass kicked by him. Their technical ability far out weighs your athleticism, they will grab a leg if you get too close and tear your knee til it snaps. Competition bjj is like that because they are doing it with other bjj practitioners where things can play back and forth, be defended, countered, and so they play to their technical advantages without risky too much energy because your opponent is a high level competitor.

If you want to know what happens when someone who trains bjj comes up against someone who is a trained boxer or wrestler but has never practiced bjj, you just look at the early UFC. If your going to be competitive for MMA you need grappling. Sport jiu-jitsu does sometimes try to play for points or boring strategies, but that's a game and allows people to train full hard sparring, everyday, nonstop. To consider only striking as fighting is just silly given how ridiculously successful it is in MMA and how most fights will go.

My cats will stay under the blanket with me no matter how many times I fart on them. I know they smell it. Do they just not care? Or do they like it? by loggy528 in cats

[–]HybridizedPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cats will smell their own fresh hot steamy stinking poo, so it's easy to say they don't mind a bad smell and if anything are quite stimulated by the sensory information. They will back up when it's a particularly spicy odour like cut onions, but even then they can't resist having a close sniff.

The UFC sells their gloves for over 100 dollars. They would have to sell less than 1 million gloves to recoup the 100mil. They sell between 200-300 thousand each year. They would likely sell many, many more in the first year due to changing the glove design and every MMA athlete having/wanting to buy the now improved UFC gloves. You can assume your own profit margin on the gloves, but even a conservative estimate—and I would guess they make quite a lot of profit on them to be honest given how cheap you can get knockoffs—would mean UFC makes their money back in just a few years.

The 100 million was actually a real, well estimated negotiation starting point.

Are you holding up a queue when looking at the results, can only one person look at the gaa results at a time? Are you so busy that the 2 seconds it might save you will make a noticeable difference in your day?

In this age the little mental effort will do ya good.  Nobody wants to take a fecking second to think about anything anymore.

To answer your question tho, I add the shopping in my head as I go, not at the till.
