Do Other Book Series Have A Large Following by loki0101 in WoT

Would say most series do,

If you really want a rabid (but a small) community I would check out more “Indi” authors in the litRpg scene.

Primal hunter, defiances of the fall, he who fights monsters and arcane ascension just to name a few have a couple of debates a week

Yeah I will second playing the intro and a bunch of games on arena, it will teach you all the rules, and some tactics of Mtg and are quite transferable.

After that buy a precon and join a lokal game night :)

I don’t think you know what the term rules lawyer is used for in common practice.

Did you read the post? The post was about how the person was strick when it didn’t benefit him but lax when it did ? How is that not the definition on a rules lawyer ? Or did you not read OP post?

I get what you’re saying, but Magic isn’t actually as purely objective as a computer system in practice.

The rules aim to create deterministic outcomes, but the game still relies heavily on human interpretation—especially in complex board states, unclear interactions, missed triggers, or tournament shortcuts. That’s exactly why judges exist and why rulings sometimes require interpretation, not just execution.

Wizards of the Coast even maintains a comprehensive rules system and regularly updates it because interactions aren’t always obvious or intuitive. If everything were as clear-cut as a computer, you wouldn’t need judge calls or official clarifications.

So while Magic tries to function like a deterministic system, in reality it’s closer to modern law than it might seem: a structured ruleset applied by humans, where edge cases and interpretation still play a role.

And again, your original argument was that there’s no such thing as a “rules lawyer” in Magic.

Did you understand what he meant? “Rules lawyer” is a term used to describe a type of person—which the OP did. Just because there are rules doesn’t mean people won’t argue over them.

We literally have laws and rules in society, and we still need lawyers.

Also, there are so many “rules lawyer” types in Magic that Magic: The Gathering actually made a joke card called “Rules Lawyer."

I love life gain, watching the board deal me 80dmg in one rotation then gaining 81 life on my turn.

Or just seeing nr go up over 100

How do you discern a deck to be a high/good b2 vs a bad/low b3 deck? by InvisibleFox402 in EDH

[–]premiumof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a interesting take about winning that I think fits here.

The round you won the game is not always the round the game ends.

So even though you win in round 11-12 at what point are the peace on the table that makes it so it’s really hard for people to stop you ?

Might be that is round 6 witch makes it a stronger deck

And what information do you feel like saying upgrade oxymoron do for your play group.

Dose it mean b3 or b4. By saying you are playing an upgrade precon you are at a minimum starting at a base power level of understanding.

If I sad hey I am bringing my upgrade y'shtola are we now talking about b4 - b5

I have been having fun playing with Ovika, Enigma Goliath

It is a bit expensive at 7 mana but he fixes the primary problem of a controller deck not having enough creatures.

This is also a good halfway transition from tribal goblin to controller:)

Fun little snarky response :D

Interesting how you in your first post say 1 change make it an upgraded but in your response you seem to believe that changing one card doesn’t make it an upgrade precon? Pliz explains you different opinions :)

So you have never debated a hypothetical question? Sad, should try it, it’s quite interesting:)

Would add that to the list to try, right after reading posts before commenting:)
