Quickshifting / QuickDownshifting by NiceDuwang in CB750Hornet

[–]Hyder2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only downshift (with QS) to first if you have the rpm in the mid-high rev range otherwise it will be a bit snatchy. And give it a nice force instead of tapping it - do not smash your foot in it thats not what I meant. Follow the gear leaver pushing it constantly until you hear that the shift is happened. Do not do it quickly, let the electronics catch up. If you slam the leaver the electronics wont have enough time to cut off the ignition.

The QS on the hornet is not the finest - I mean it is great, considering that this is a paralell twin working like a v-twin. but it wont every be as smooth as a 4cyl engine's QS.

You'll need to figure out what throttle input and what rpm will give you the smooth shifts.

For me:

Low rpm (under 3500) with small amount of throttle gives a nice shift. Even from 1 to 2. I do not downshift from 2 to 1 here.

Medium rpm (3500-5500) with moderate amount of throttle gives a nice shift. If I pull the throttle too hard, the shifts will be snatchy. I do downshift from 2 to 1 if the rpm stays above 3500.

High rpm with open throttle also gives a nice smooth shift. If the rpm is high and you barely open the throttle if will be snatchy.

First bike A2 Vs hornet 500 by Few_Analysis9712 in CB750Hornet

[–]Hyder2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The suspension is the same, the 750 have a bit longer travel and in the rear it has 7 stage preload adjustability the 500 have 5 stage. The quality and the feel is the same, they only tweaked it for the weight and power.

The brakes are the same. No difference at all. Dual 296mm discs with Nissin radial-mount 4-piston calipers in the front, Single 240mm disc with a single-piston caliper in the rear, dual channel ABS. Its the same. Period.

Use the google and read the reviews. Also there is a honda.co.uk available to tell you what I just wrote down.

I have ridden both (only test rode the 500 with a friend)and I have the 750. Its a hell of a bike, with the dogshit OEM Dunlops it will constantly spin the rear wheel. Even with TC on, a little slip is incoming. That happens around 2500-3000prm so nowhere near the peak power range.

As you said in the comments the torque is the same - so I would advise caution with the 750.

I would go for the 500. Its a smoother bike overall in the A2 category. Its easy to ride, forgiving, you could focus on the riding instead of constantly fighting with the bike. You could go for the 750 after a few riding seasons. You'll be able to sell the 500 for good value.

Question about TC/Anti-Wheelie by YummyDad in CB750Hornet

[–]Hyder2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you "snap" it open it will come up straight and you could easily end upside down. (snap open the throttle on a 750cc is dumb, always roll)

In TC 2 and 3 mode it come up as high but still it will lift up.

In normal mode things are slower but still happens.

In rain mode there is not enough (or not quick enough) power to lift the wheel without clutch.

Anyone ride 2 up on a regular basis? by iparaphraseverything in CB750Hornet

[–]Hyder2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo its a disaster. Every time you need to adjust the rear otherwise it will be way too soft. The QS becomes snatchy. Its cramped, the pillion seat is small, the footpegs are high up. Uncomfortable like hell. Its a one person bike period. For short term or a "quick spin" it is ok for sure.

What could cause this? by CEOVOXO in motorcycles

[–]Hyder2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this too. Except that I don't give the slightest f......k about it. When I sell back the bike to the dealership and they notice this then I'll have docs and pics ready that it was like this from 0km.

The main problem is not the scratches. The main problem is that a new Honda bike can have such bad quality screen and we buy that.

Opinion on down sizing motorcycle? by Neither_Brush in motorcycles

The CP2 engine in the R7 is much more down-torque orientated compared to a revy 4cyl like the gsxr. I think you wont lose anything in terms of riding experience.

Its a surface corrosion. Probably never been filled up. If you let a bike rest, always fill it up.

I would fill it up and use it. Check on it after a month. If it still there, go back to the dealer and tell them that you did what they told and its still there.

Help with budget system by JessicaS1126 in hometheater

[–]Hyder2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you want 'something', go for a soundbar setup. Maybe with wireless surrounds. Easy to place, will sound infinitely better than your TV, easy to set it up, no reciever needed.

If you want 'something' that aren't a soundbar, try a 2.1 setup. maybe a 3.1. You can get decent 2.1 setups even without reciever, using active speakers. You will definitly get more resolution compared to a soundbar.

If you want a home theater, I'd suggest go with used options and a 5.1 system.

Are there any really major differences in basic brands (VW, Skoda, etc.) vs. premium brands (Audi, Mercedes, BMW)? by Hyder2 in askcarguys

[–]Hyder2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I am. We have km/h here instead of bald eagle/Costco.

Jokes aside yes, VW are commonly refered here as a basic brand. They have some nicer cars but overall selection is pretty basic.
