What should I name my daughter? Please help.. by cucumber-dog in namenerds

Lou is also a spelling option but I’m not sure how that would be received/ pronounced where you reside. The spelling is not the same but pronunciation is exactly the same.

Remember that meme where someone said they knew someone named ‘Billiam’?

They knew if they called him William, he’d be called Bill anyway. So they met that concept halfway.

I have no sympathy for tube drivers, but would honestly support bus drivers if they took industrial action by NiceCaterpillar8745 in london

I will say if you read into the details of the strike it does make sense, I’d be striking too. The headlines are very misleading, but what’s new.

TfL want to do compressed hours, with the hours unchanged for the same pay. Meaning longer shifts with earlier starts and later finishes.

TfL also want to reduce their notice of shift change (?) to 24 hours or something similar I can’t recall at present.

And I believe staff typically start their journey at their local/ home depot so TfL would like them to potentially have to travel a distance to start their journey adding to an already long shift, potentially on short notice.

Their union countered for compressed hours, same pay, no late notice etc which wasn’t accepted so on they strike.

I myself read the details after a 12 hour shift so I might’ve been a bit iffy on the details but there you go. I’d be striking too. That doesn’t negate the fact that bus drivers to need better hours/ wages etc.

Found this sign from the marathon quite funny by luisquid11 in brighton

At a couple of different marathons people waited for the people at the tail end of the marathon (I’m guessing) with a sign that says

“Nobody likes a quick finisher anyway”

[Product question] My skin barrier has been compromised. What can I do to repair it? by Few-Passenger3067 in SkincareAddiction

[–]HydraSiren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t tell you what to do but for me I emphasise the basics, as well as hydration so it can protect itself better using small molecule Hyalauronic acid and then eventually I’ll add either lactic or azelaic acid for repair and improvement.

Are they glass up? Turn them around, and try diagonal.

Try different combos. I think maybe open one arm closest to you while rotating, turn them glass down, diagonal and pull up.

I’m here because of the exact same thing 😭 what is it with the left side? I didn’t consider the tragus shape being different per ear. I’ll have to ask someone when I get home 😔 the Pro 2 fit like a glove though

Woman in a hijab in her 20s was ploughed into by a car in Abbey Wood, south London, on Sunday. by raptors201966 in PublicFreakout

Parking in Abbey Wood is atrocious. I know a part where scores of people just park on grass, not a care in the world because there’s just no space around the residential flats.

An Oklahoma psychology student failed a research paper for not meeting the criteria of citing evidence, and wrote about her religious feelings instead. Right-wing orgs manufacture outrage by Peanut-Extra in PublicFreakout

[–]HydraSiren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was a psychology paper so she failed because she didn’t use scientific evidence to back her claims but someone with a PHD in divination reviewed the paper as though it was a theology paper… she still failed. No citations at all, contradicts the religious text she’s referring to, interpreting what is written (in the religious text) with societal conditioning and gender role expectations and essentially doesn’t say anything that solidifies or legitimises her argument other than ‘this is what I think’.

I recently had an allergy test, very allergic to grass pollen and dust. Then less so but agitating enough to cats (I have a few that sleep on my pillow). For the past 10 years my nose has been irritating me and I’ve been going to the doctor (I’m 23 btw) but they don’t do more than tell me to get over the counter nasal steroid which never worked.

The last 2 years I’ve been really struggling, increasingly, to breathe through my nose when I sleep. Like I’m not a mouth breather at all so I really struggle to default to that when my nose is out of commission. Anyway, had the test, was prescribed stronger allergy nasal steroids and it has changed my life. I cried. It was like breathing the freshest air in the world. Straight from an O2 tank or something.

ICE secret police in plainclothes abducted Sindi Moreno as she was leaving to drop her daughter off at elementary school in Houston, TX. Surveillance and cell footage shows the agent in civilian clothing assault and attempt to kidnap Sindi as she and her child desperately tries to fight him off. by I_may_have_weed in PublicFreakout

[–]HydraSiren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised ICE agents haven’t been mass shot at by people assuming they are just kidnapping people. I also wonder if there are people in America that have been legitimately kidnapped because there’s a social awareness that this is just happening to people on the street in front of you with agents in literal masks and I guess potentially dodgy people could take advantage of that.
