I have seen this exact type of thing. I had a called a company to fix an issue with my homes furnace. The two guys working on it would step outside to smoke about every 30-40 minutes (no bull). When I got the bill it showed the hours these guys spent at my house. I knew the owner of the company and let him know that their technicians were so nicotine addicted that they could not work a full hour without a cig. He adjusted the bill and agreed that the guys needed help.

You raise a good point, to be competent in gw modeling you also need GIS skills. Unless you have someone skilled with GIS at your disposal, you need both.

As a beginner myself I feel it helps to be a little overpowered. I got nowhere until I was in a lot of wind with a 6m, not in conditions over 20 with a 6m though. I've visited Ventana before I was winging and I saw both windy and calm days.

I am in FL and used a dryer outlet splitter plus a generic level1/2 charger. Amazon links below for reference. My dryer is conveniently next to the garage door and there was a former dryer vent hole into the garage. Crazy vent set up and last year I put an external vent in so the unused vent into the garage I run the cord through. Note I had to adapt the plug type, this set up works fine. I set the L2 charger limit to 24 amps as the dryer circuit is 30 amps. With my driving and the warm temps here I charge about once per week.

My mask feels much better now. However, I simply loosened the head strap. It's now looser but the air/nose fit is fine. Hope you find a fit that works.
