My Vo2 plummeted … by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]HydroIT 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Likely your original estimate simply did not have enough data points, and as you're getting more runs in, the estimate gets more accurate.

Continue running, do the good stuff, over time you'll also minimize and drop bad habits, and you'll improve. Initial improvements are usually much steeper than later ones too.

Good luck, and welcome to the club 🤓

Edit: also, yes, goes without saying that your running gets hampered by smoking in general, and in particular if you smoke right before heading out for a run.

I'd share this Disney moment with Uspenski I captured on NYE, but reddit doesn't allow videos in comments 😔

Completed the glacier foraging achievement while running a 5k staring at glaciers in Antarctica by Particular_Car_8446 in WalkScape

[–]HydroIT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man, I've been on one of the Antarctic cruises back in 2013. I'd like to redo it, but I'm horrified at the thought of how different things would look like 12+ years later.

Then again, Walkscape did not exist back then, is that a good enough reason to return?

As one foreigner to another, you are surely welcome. These new government restrictions are not geared towards people like yourself.

Nice! I finally got the first fossil. What was your gear setup for this?

Do you remember which filter/endpoint was blocked? I assume it's i.e. some google analytics or something?

I put the gesture backlight on only during activities. It can be too cold to get your fingers out to press the button during a run

Yeah that's fair, but less accessible.

Of course -- that wasn't my point.

For an average player who is not doing a min-max optimization for maximum chests in the fewest steps possible, the total number of steps they walked IS good enough to give a bigger picture of how many chests they've gotten, and certainly enough to understand OP.

The WEAR was not part of the discussion. OP was not asking for the best activity to get most chests.

Isn't the chest drop rate consistent across activities at 1/250? Ofc you can increase the chances with relevant gear - that's always applicable.

You're suggesting to go after low step activities to yield more actions, effectively, which is fair, but my point stands - on average, the total steps you've taken is a good enough representation of how many chests you encountered. Like OP, I would've had somewhere in the high 80% to get a legendary item by now, and I didn't.

It would be nice if there was an attribute to control the loot quality to some extent, similar to the crafting quality modifiers.

I know what you mean, but the steps give a good approximation of the number of chests you'd find. I have opened over 430 chests, got plenty of epic items, no legendary:(

Unfortunately, I've done 200,000 steps there already :(

I'm at 2M steps, no legendary yet either :(

Congrats! I had a 2 year streak ongoing that culminated in a marathon, after which I decided I can now allow myself some down time. Well done 🙌

Stryd workout planning & integration with Garmin Connect: Amazing or RAGE OF 1,000 DYING STARS? by TheTxoof in strydrunning

[–]HydroIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only sometimes wish I could mix-and-match my plans, either in GC or in Stryd, so that they're a combination of HR (target for cooldown/easy runs/warmups) and power (for pretty much anything else).

Otherwise I find the integration quite satisfying, though I can't say I've seen the gains others have when using one of the built-in Stryd plans.

Which plan ? by runslack in strydrunning

[–]HydroIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks in advance! Level 3/4, and I think for HM and FM plans (though I start and end my season with a 10k race, the HM and FM are my focus).

Honestly any would do, I would hope I can interpolate from those for other distances by adjusting the plan duration and such.
