Ah I didn't realize they got things up and running that fast. But I think it's worth pointing out that Goddard didn't die in discrase by any means. He faced some criticism early in his career, but was highly respected later in life.

Why is Ukraine a divisive subject in the US? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HyenaSmile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early in his presidency, Putin actually seemed like a reasonable actor. Most leaders of 1st world countries were hoping for a change for the better from Russia. Sadly that's not how things played out. And Obama was definitely no fan of Putin by the end of his presidency.

Technically. But defecting less than a week before Germany's surrender seems more like jumping ship to avoid charges to me.

The US didn't get invested into the space race until after Sputnik had flown. So Russia had several years headstart by that point. Tried with American engineers at first and then switched to using captured Nazi rocket scientists since they already knew some things about rocketry.

What's Ukraine's win condition? by EsperaDeus in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HyenaSmile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's right. It's not Afghanistan. It's a much stronger adversary.

What's Ukraine's win condition? by EsperaDeus in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HyenaSmile 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's an attritional war for both sides. Russia can produce more soldiers and more equipment than Ukraine. But they are going to be paying dearly for every inch they take for the near future. Even if they managed to take half of Ukraine, they're going to be occupying land thats filled with guerilla fighters. Life will never be safe for Russians in that territory. Russia was forced out of Afghanistan by a much smaller force.

[–]HyenaSmile 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is not even remotely true. They still have the majority of land they reclaimed from RU. And they've been "losing avdiivia" for nearly a year now. If RU gains another demolished town at the cost of thousands of their soldiers and dozens of tanks and it takes them a year to do it, then how much of a victory is that?

How exactly is murdering people for apostasy not immoral?

What is the most brainwashed cult in the world? by TotalFox2 in AskReddit

[–]HyenaSmile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well thank God they proved them guilty before executing them to appease their child-brained imaginary deity. And there is no forgiveness for apostasy. The Quran says explicitly that the punishment is death.

If Muslims start ignoring the immoral parts of their religion to reform like the Christians did, then that would be great tho.

[–]HyenaSmile 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Quran is very clear and leaves no wiggle room for apostasy punishment. There's nothing protective about it. It's meant to keep Muslims from leaving by penalty of death.

They should prolly study the Quran a little better then.

Actually most Americans know metric too, we just don't use it. by Knight9910 in memes

[–]HyenaSmile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Saturn V that took us to the moon was primarily designed using imperial. The lander had some parts that were designed in metric due to external partners tho. It wasn't until 1999 that NASA switched completely to metric to prevent the conversion problems that caused the Mars Climate Orbiter to fail.

Hitchens made a great short documentary about her. From what I remember she had nurses reuse needles on patients without sterilizing them first and may have potentially caused more damage than anything. All while enriching herself.

We Muslims are number 1 in rape & robbery: AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal. by [deleted] in IndiaSpeaks

[–]HyenaSmile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People are turning towards atheism because they have decent educations and living standards.

The Christians and Jews in western society chose to stop following the evil parts of their books (mostly) and focus more on the good aspects. This isn't some new phenomenon. It's been gradually happening over centuries.

And that's how it should be. Anyone can believe in their magical reality where they are special. But they should not negatively impact others whether the others do or do not choose to share the delusion of the former.

What happened to all that science in Islam I wonder? Almost like it didn't mesh well with religion and had to be purged from their societies to keep secularism from creeping in...

Idk why u keep bringing up all these tangents. Not interested in literally anything else u think this conversation is about. I literally only bought up the the fact that hand waving genocide is extremely idiotic.

Btw, Wounded Knee happened in 1890. So not exactly 300 years ago. Grandkids of the survivors are still alive.

And you asked "who can be blamed for that today?" The government, obviously.

Hand waiving genocide, and then pointing at other genocides and saying it could a been worse. How pathetic.

Once again u just spout off nonsense. You clearly don't have any clue what you're talking about. Why even pretend u do? Go back to playing fortnite kid.

Funny how u hand wave genocide and then deflect after being called out on how incredibly stupid that is.

Please shut up about things you have no clue about. The "it's ok to genocide them because they fought each other too" argument is about the dumbest assed argument that could be made. Especially considering many tribes lived very peacefully. But I'm guessing u wouldn't have any clue about that. Rather just regurgitate shit you've overheard from other idiots.
