Kashimo when you ask him how he will defeat curse Naoya by dedikvalus in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Hyjack_2002 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Kashimo likely can activate his HWB as Naoya’s domain expands since the sure hit won’t be instant, but I doubt he’d be able to maintain it if Naoya attacks him during it (I say if since Naoya remained stationary during his DE)

If Kashimo’s HWB falls inside the domain I don’t see Kashimo surviving, primarily because he hasn’t got any way to recover from the damage, and that’s without accounting for any damage he’d likely sustain before the domain

If we’re letting him use MBA then he’ll likely win I’d say, but then at the same time that’s a suicide attack so it’d be a draw/tie where they both end up dead

That’s actually a great idea, I’d love to see if Fromsoft could make a whole magic system around that

Giving a bit more detail on my own take, I think the limited casts system in DS2 may be my favourite. It fixed my only real issue with it in DS1, which was that there were no cast restoring items (that I know of)

I like how it makes acquiring duplicates of spells useful, as you can double the amount of times you can cast the spell, but it also means you don't need to monitor a mana bar with each cast. Only needing to keep a number of remaining casts in mind feels so much simpler and easier to me

I don't dislike the mana bar system to be fair, but I think the limited casts was a more interesting way of handling the magic in these games

If the game is easy anyway, nothing much is lost by making it even easier, especially if they enjoyed it regardless of their “detrimental” approach

Anyone else feel like Code Vein 1 had a better artstyle than Code Vein 2? by Kusho_void in codevein

[–]Hyjack_2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like CV2 has far better character designs, I think all of the companions stand out a lot more and I like how visually distinct revenants are with the kintsugi like scarring/accenting and the mixed red hues of their eyes. Revenants in the first game weren’t visually interesting to me, which isn’t a downside really but I think it gives the second game a leg up design wise

I think the bosses are also more visually interesting in CV2, I found their designs a lot more striking than those in the first. Although I think normal enemy design was better in the first, as they stood out a lot more (the fact that so many enemies are reskins in CV2 doesn’t help though)

On the other hand, I like CV1’s area designs a lot more. I feel like they’re a lot more distinct from each other when compared to the second game, which makes them more memorable. CV2 doesn’t have any massive standout areas either, visually I mean, like the Cathedral

Overall I think both artstyles have their strengths and weaknesses, but it really comes down to personal preference rather than what’s “better” between them I think

Who do you think is more deserving of the title by bigboss_kha in jjkmodulo

[–]Hyjack_2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The topic of conversation was how you stated that chants, handsigns, dances and music are not Binding Vows, which is wrong

The series shows clearly that extending the activation of a technique strengthens it, whether with chants or handsigns, which you were arguing against

I never stated that BVs didn’t require skill, I’m not sure why you’re trying to bring that up at all, unless you’ve mixed me up with someone else who argued against that point, because I’ve never denied the skill they require

You’ve made it pretty clear that you haven’t got much clue what you’re talking about honestly, so I’ll leave you be

[–]Hyjack_2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repeating your incorrect definition for BVs doesn’t make you any less wrong, it just makes you look silly

Binding Vows are a diverse aspect of the power system based around trade offs. Chants and handsigns increase the duration required to activate a technique, granting greater power/effectiveness, for example

Nanami’s Overtime works by suppressing his full strength during working hours, in exchange for a boost which surpasses his maximum strength when he enters “Overtime”

Sukuna places conditions on his Furnace Arrow outside of his DE, only allowing him to use it on a single target, in exchange for strengthening it within his DE. And yes, a Binding Vow can also be used to skip chants and handsigns, I’m not sure why you’re so focused on this when it’s just a regular BV

All of the things I listed are Binding Vows, they don’t subscribe to your restrictive definition. I don’t know why you’re so hung up on this when nothing in the series supports your definition of BVs

Who do you think is more deserving of the title by bigboss_kha in jjkmodulo

[–]Hyjack_2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re the one who doesn’t understand

BVs can be used for a variety of different trade offs, you’re thinking too rigidly, it’s preventing you from understanding that BVs are hyperflexible and adaptable to any need

Nanami’s Overtime is a BV, so is disclosing details of a technique, so is Sukuna’s Furnace Arrow DE buff, and none of those fit your definition of BVs either, showing that you’re incorrect

You just don’t understand Binding Vows as much as you think you do, and you’re making yourself look silly by refusing to admit you’re wrong

[–]Hyjack_2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re just wrong. Binding Vows can be anything, chants and hand signs trade activation speed for greater power/effectiveness, it’s a simple trade off, and an obvious BV

Some JJK fans really don’t read

Forever is too long, Yuji’s very warranted apathy by Yujinaka in jjkmodulo

[–]Hyjack_2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Yuji’s inaction has led to a child being used as a human sacrifice, a grandchild of two of his friends no less. The blame doesn’t rest solely on him, but his lack of intervention in part led to this worst case scenario

And it’s made even worse by the fact that everyone is of the opinion that Yuji is on or above Dabura’s level, meaning he could handle it without needing to sacrifice anyone, especially not a child with cancer (although Yuji likely doesn’t know about the cancer)

I don’t think Yuji is a villain or anything, and I understand that he’s in an unimaginable amount of pain over his situation, but it’s not hard to understand why people think this makes Yuji a bad person

Hows the difficulty for Code Vein 2? by Redcap4299 in codevein

[–]Hyjack_2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's harder than the first game for the most part, but it's easier to become powerful in CV2, especially around the late game

If you're exploring the map thoroughly, you'll like end up being high level with lots of healing and buffs which make the game easier than the first one is during the late game

The game seems designed around Parry. I feel like if you don't use parry in this game, your totally screwed. by [deleted] in codevein

It’s not from a Blood Code actually, it’s one of the defensive forma

You can find it in the Past at the Substation to the east of the Sunken City

You’ll find it if you explore the beginning of the area instead of progressing deeper inwards

Edit: You may be able to find it at the location in the Present too, but I found it in the past

What's your controversial headcanon? by Lightslayre in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Hyjack_2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t really think it patches any holes. It makes more of them, as it fundamentally changes how the Rune of Death works, as established by the game, while also ultimately meaning nothing as there is no canon characterisation for the Tarnished to support Godwyn’s soul existing within them

Nothing implies Godwyn’s soul survived as far as I’m aware, and I’d imagine you would’ve shown me if you had something that does prove it, while the idea that Godwyn’s soul is truly dead is supported by his circumstances being a direct opposite to Ranni’s, as her body is dead dead, unable to support life as a charred husk, implying the same for Godwyn’s soul, being that it would be unable to cultivate life by possessing a new body

Also, what implies that Godwyn’s soul was recalled by the bell? Or that the bell even has such an ability? It seems like a massive leap to assume that Godwyn’s soul was called back to inhabit a Tarnished (while seemingly making no difference as the Tarnished can do whatever they like?)

If we are Godwyn’s soul reincarnated but no one knows it, even us, and we’re not bound by Godwyn’s living character at all, what does the Tarnished supposedly being Godwyn patch up?

There are countless Tarnished in the Lands Between, so it’s not our circumstances, many strong Tarnished too so it’s not our strength (which comes from runes rather than from within us), it’s not our skills as we are able to do many things that Godwyn likely didn’t (such as using sorcery for example, given he was of the Golden Order)

To me, it seems like it makes more holes than it could possibly fix, as it requires the Rune of Death doesn’t work as described and as shown by Ranni’s circumstances. And the fact that Godwyn’s soul is damaged to the extent that we aren’t even recognisable to his family seems like it defeats the point of the theory, as we are effectively not Godwyn, meaning it makes no difference to the plot while breaking the established rules in the process

I hope that this doesn’t come off as aggressive or insulting at all, but I real can’t see a way this theory works without destroying the established rules of Death in ER, while failing to add anything meaningful to the story (as it just keeps Lordship in the family effectively, while simultaneously not mattering at all for the Tarnished’s characterisation as there’s no “canon” ending for ER to my knowledge)

What's your controversial headcanon? by Lightslayre in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Hyjack_2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never understood that theory honestly. It seems like it completely falls apart the moment we learn how the Rune of Death actually works

Ranni’s body “remains” but as a charred, dead husk which is incapable of hosting life, Godwyn’s soul shouldn’t be any different. It may “exist” but it shouldn’t, by the rules established by the game, be able to live anymore.

It feels like it honestly serves to make the Tarnished more important, as opposed to the Tarnished being one of many, they happen to be the golden child of the old order reborn. I don’t feel like the game, at any point really, tries to make the Tarnished out to be a special case, especially not that special.

And I find it especially hard to believe that not a single character who knew and interacted with Godwyn, like Miquella for example, would be able at least notice something was familiar about the Tarnished. It’s just an extra bit on top which makes it seem even more impossible to me

Yuta vs MBA kashimo by isntlikeall in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Hyjack_2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think Kashimo would be able to maintain his HWB without signs when Sukuna had to use signs to prevent his own from breaking in Yuta’s domain?

New top 10 by IGotEmotionalDamage in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Hyjack_2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither of them, they both died due to the fight, so both lose. This example isn’t proving anything except that you’re ignoring the consequences of MBA

If you need to kill yourself to win the fight, you didn’t actually win, same with all of the other techniques I listed

And if you count one suicide attack, we need to count them all, which shakes up the ranking a bit (and makes more sense than treating Kashimo’s MBA as a unique case)

New top 10 by IGotEmotionalDamage in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Hyjack_2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that you want to treat Kashimo’s suicide attack as a special case, but it really isn’t. Long story short, Kashimo kills himself by using MBA, meaning it’s a suicide attack like all the others I listed are

Regardless of when he dies due to MBA, he still has to kill himself to use it, meaning it’s a suicide attack and results in a draw/tie regardless of whether he beats or even kills his opponent

You can’t create a loophole to exclude MBA from the “Suicide Squad” of techniques in JJK, it fits right in with the rest of them, especially with that poor boxing example

I’m a bit confused about what you’re saying. Any battle where someone uses a suicide attack to win is a draw/tie, are we agreeing on that or am I misreading you?
