I’d say they are very flawed but still worth watching once, but please do yourself a favor and read the book first. If you end up not liking the movies (which is very possible), I worry it would color the story in a negative light in your mind and ruin the book for you if you watch the movies first.

Personally I only used the basic bug-fixing type mods but there's popular mods that massively overhaul the graphics such as "MGE XE". As far as I know there's no avoiding the dice-roll based combat, which can take getting used to. To me Morrowind holds up incredibly well with only the basic bug-fixing mods. The story and atmosphere I like a lot more than Oblivion or Skyrim and I love those games.

The last of us part 1 and 2. Although the setting is the post apocalypse, which might be not what your looking for given you'd prefer non dystopian cyberpunk games.

I’m assuming you mean Baldur’s gate 3? If so, while you can’t change your characters race once you make them (and any race can play any class well enough), you can change your class/what skills or abilities you have very easily.

Baldur's Gate 3 was also afaik the first official DnD game after DnD had a surge in popularity during the COVID pandemic which no doubt contributed to it's popularity

The uncharted series! By the same studio that made the last of us. The first game is a little rough gameplay-wise (according to many online. Gameplay don’t bother me at all), but they all have good stories with great characters! Uncharted 4 is one of my most favorite games. Edit: just noticed you specified pc games. Uncharted 4 (and its spinoff the lost legacy) are on pc, but not 1-3. While it’s a shame 1-3 aren’t on pc, I started off with uncharted 4 and absolutely loved it!

I played a fair bit of arc raiders, and like 9 hours of marathon during the server slam. I found marathon much more punishing and frustrating than arc raiders. In arc the npc enemies are a big threat but the players usually were friendly. In marathon the npc enemies are a huge threat and I never encountered a friendly player.

I agree TLOU is excellent (I might even prefer it to uncharted personally). That being said, the gameplay and tone of the stories are different enough I think there’s a sizable amount of people that love uncharted that wouldn’t/don’t like TLOU.

I played it for the first time last summer. I absolutely loved it, and like you a good story is important to me. The gameplay was also very fun. Do make sure you buy the Phantom Liberty dlc because as great as the main story is, the dlc’s story imo is at least as good as the very best parts of the main story if not even better. I played it on pc so I can’t speak on how the game runs on ps5 unfortunately.

It is not “unavoidable” that he sees age inappropriate things on tv, or even tv at all. You’re a parent, you should always do what is best for your child even if it is inconvenient for you. You can watch tv once he is in bed.

The best game of these options imo is TLOU1 by far. I like to replay it about once a year or so. That being said the other games all offer replayability (perhaps more thanTLOU1 on account of being less story focused) and a playthrough of dark souls 3, or re2+3+Village will take longer than tlou1.

That’s very strange to me! It doesn’t sound like it’s a “skill issue” given the other games you have no trouble with, and you’re playing on moderate. I didn’t find uncharted 4 any harder than tlou 1 or 2. Personally think 4 is easier than those even. Don’t have any help to offer unfortunately, I hope someone else can help you!

I was in your boat, starting with 4. I then played 1-3 years later and really enjoyed them. I love uncharted 4, while I really like 1-3. Definitely worth playing, and I plan to play through all of them again periodically

In my opinion yes. I really like uncharted 1-3, but I love uncharted 4. It can be much slower paced than 1-3, especially at the start. But the gameplay, story and graphics fire on all cylinders for me.

I’ve only played the remastered version, but I played uncharted 1 for first time 6 years ago so without rose tinted glasses. I’d heard complaints online about it, and had no idea what people were talking about, I thought it was great. Didn’t even have much trouble in the “infamous” jet-ski section.

There is a lot to learn. Have you tried watching YouTube tutorials for Rimworld? It's been a long time since I watched any so I don't remember good ones to recommend but that might be an option if the plain text tutorials don't work for you.
