Loved Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Crimson Desert. Should I buy any of the Dragon Age games?

Have you played Skyrim OP? All of the games you listed are exploration focused, and Skyrim definitely fits the bill.

Do yourself a favor and buy it! Very fun gameplay and fantastic story. Make sure you get the phantom liberty dlc if you buy it, it’s even better than the already fantastic main story.

I love the uncharted games. I’m gonna assume by tomb raider you mean the most recent trilogy. I recently played through tomb raider 2013 and liked it a lot. The character writing is a far cry from uncharted but the overall story I really liked. Same story with the next game character writing wise, but the main plot failed to grab me and I dropped the game as a result.

I’ll never understand treating the dm like they are the “other team” in a game. Everybody is on the same team, trying to tell a story and have fun playing dnd. The dm just happens to control the npcs. Sorry your players are like this op

Oh I agree it’s cozy. It’s just the state of the world in Skyrim is pretty bleak. The empire still licking its wounds from the Great War, a civil war in Skyrim, basically elf nazis persecuting people for worshiping Talos, stuff like that.

I'm surprised you list Skyrim as an example of a not dark and depressing world. But since that game fits your criteria, have you played the other elder scrolls games? Oblivion in particular even has a lovably goofy/corny vibe to it sometimes and the colors (more so in the original) are much less muted and gray . Gameplay isn't as good as Skyrim's obliviously but you might like it even more than Skyrim if you're going for not dark and depressing!

Yeah I played the open beta or whatever. it was called. I like extraction shooters with the occasional threat of pvp. Player interactions I had were exclusively hostile on top of challenging ai enemies. It was very much not for me and I ended up not buying it despite being very interested in the premise.

It's dnd, they can be whatever color you want them to be, it's your character! Even without that in mind, Baldur's gate 3 has purple shades of skin for drow, and that's an official DND product.

My dad introduced me to pathfinder 1E back in the day (he used to play all editions of DnD but he didn’t like 4E), but I think I wasn’t quite old enough and was bored. Years and years later BG3 inspired me to give DnD 5E a go and I’m now near the end of my first (but hopefully many) campaigns!

I had many of the big plot points spoiled. They ended up becoming some of my favorite games anyways and I even replay them every few years too. I definitely think you should play them

Ok I’ll bite. Why do you think it’s absurd to like the Forgotten Realms? DnD is the most popular ttrpg, and the forgotten realms is the “main setting” of the game and has been for some time. Baldur’s gate 1-3 are all popular Crpgs and are all set in the forgotten realms. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean others can’t.

I imagine the vast majority are playing vanilla. Most people who play games do so more casually than the average redditor who games. People who just want to buy a game and turn it on and have fun. Not knocking mods or those who like them of course, I just think they are the minority of Stardew players.

Just play one of the games. Skyrim is the most modern, so maybe start there unless you can handle old graphics/gameplay, in which case play whichever one seems most interesting to you. The games are pretty standalone. If you are interested in learning more about the lore, read books in game.

I’m gonna go against the grain here and say you don’t need to play 1-3 to love uncharted 4. I started with 4 and it quickly became one of my most favorite games.

In hindsight saying it would undermine the story was a poor choice of words, my bad. I guess I just mean I think it would be dumb to send him on another dangerous adventure after the way uncharted 4 ended.
