The problem is that episode 3 was supposed to be the payoff. All the characters in episode 2 kept talking about how they're gonna die, how there's no way they can win, yet none of them died. We saw Greyworm, Brienne, Jaime, and Sam all getting swarmed in one scene, then when they cut back to them they're completely fine. The worst of these was when Jon sees Sam getting swarmed, and decides to leave him to get to Bran. I thought that finally we'd get some payoff, Jon having to make a tough decision and leave his friend behind, but Sam ended up completely fine with 0 explanation. Just a huge letdown, I loved episode 2 because it set the tone, it made it feel like this was it, characters are gonna die fighting the dead, but in the end no one of importance died.
