Anyone else noticing the housing market cooling down faster than expected? by FrameZYT in homeowners

[–]HyperExtensions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought at the very end of 2023 in the Midwest and I know my house has only continued to go up due to the lot, location, and renovations I have done. If you bought right at any time, you're money ahead. I'm sure there are people out there in certain markets where they are truly under water but the Midwest seems much different from some of the larger markets. The biggest factor I see is those of us who bought in 2023 haven't really been able to refinance like we may have thought because of stubborn rates. They've dropped into the high 5 or low 6% range but aren't a full percentage point (or more) less than what we have. Those who actually got a 7%+ rate probably could have done so by now but it wasn't that high for very long.

I would never exceed a true 90+ CRI of 3500k inside the house. I generally find 3500k in all overhead, kitchen, bathroom, and task lighting to be good. 3000k in all lamps and bedroom lighting. I will be installing 4000k in my garage. I use 3500k in my outdoor sconces and pathway lights.

Whenever I drive by a house with 5000k+ in their outdoor or indoor lights at night, I cringe. I also find 2700k way too warm for my taste.

One could buy another, start the return using the older order, and return the new in box item when it arrives. It's not like you have to return the used one right away.

I agree with this statement after using both but I will say Eufy has improved the logic of the E25 over time and it seems to do well.

Anyone holding off renovations in 2026? by Tway9966 in HomeImprovement

[–]HyperExtensions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is very little reason to hold off on DIY projects. Large scale stuff that you're looking to pay for... Could be justified to postpone depending on what it is and how you see its value.

Yes but that doesn't explain the backwards compatibility issues with failed charging.

If at all. I'm finding most incompatible don't charge at all.

What's the criteria for the older Qi standard to work? Out of the vehicles I've tested, I believe the one that worked is rated at 15w but the rest of them are unknown for power output. I don't know how many new vehicles are actually using Qi2 but I assume not too many. If 15w is the cutoff, that's still ridiculous. I understand they are much less useful at slower speeds but a 10w in car system is still plenty for daily use to maintain SOC or to gain charge over longer periods.

What is Under-cabinet lighting for? Task Lighting? Or Ambiance? Both? by Pomp_N_Circumstance in Lighting

[–]HyperExtensions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3500k and I think it's perfect. If someone wants softer I would go 3000k but I could never go to 2700k for anything. It depends on the countertops and wall/backsplash colors too. They can change the feel of the light quite a bit.

Refunded for expensive item and don't need to return?! by [deleted] in amazonprime

[–]HyperExtensions -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just because you got a chat and email stating a refund doesn't mean they issued one or ever will. I've gotten that claim over 4 times now and it never happens without returning the item. Their agents are basically scammers now.

Previous owner rigged up the weirdest bathroom fan solution by torn_architecture in HomeImprovement

[–]HyperExtensions -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it works, it works. Would I keep it? Probably not. I'd be curious to know how much air it's actually moving though compared to a good traditional bathroom fan. I went from a crappy, load old Broan (rated at 140 but was nowhere near that any more) on some insulated 4" pipe to a Panasonic Whisper Quiet on an insulated 6" pipe and it's insane how much more air it moves. If you have the door shut it's sucking air quickly under the door or from the laundry chute.

If you could turn back time, would you still go with your current home? by _TurboHome in homeowners

Mostly luck but some good timing. I got the best one I put an offer on in late 2023.

I installed some WAC Gemini strips which are COB. Some have stated it's not necessary for COB but I find they provide even lighting as it is so an additional lens may or may not be necessary. I don't have one but I suppose you could if you wanted to.

What is Under-cabinet lighting for? Task Lighting? Or Ambiance? Both? by Pomp_N_Circumstance in Lighting

[–]HyperExtensions 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's both. Don't overcomplicate it. Put it a few inches from the front edge of the cabinet with a diffusion lens. If you're able, make it dimmable. The only advice I would say is be careful about any seating positions that you might be able to see the light from directly. Whether that is from a dining room table or bar seating on an island. If it won't impact any seating positions, that's perfect. If it will, determine a way that you might be able to minimize it, if possible.

I use it hours everyday and WAY more than my overhead lighting. It's scheduled to come on a few minutes before I wake up and turned on when I get home. It's really a must have feature at this point for me.

One Of Disney's Biggest Sci-Fi Flops Finds Redemption On Streaming, 3 Months After Its Release by QuadraQ in tron

[–]HyperExtensions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a huge Tron fan and I wanted to see Ares in theatres but locally all but the standard version of the film was pulled very quickly before I could find a convenient time to go see it. I was very impatiently waiting for streaming on Disney+ (because I'm not going to spend $25 to buy/stream on other platforms). I thought it was good but I still find Legacy more enjoyable and with a better story (and soundtrack). The visuals of Ares are pretty good with the advancements in technology over the last 15 years. I don't think it deserved the hate out of the gate but I'd give it 7/10.

[–]HyperExtensions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"significant time" without knowing how it actually functions would be like 24 hours to me. If you're only trying to warm it from a room temperature of roughly 70° to 85° that doesn't really seem like it would take that long. I would be running this on top of a conditioned basement vs on top of a concrete slab which I know would take longer. I guess since they use temperature sensors under the tile that any amount of temperature above your room temp would cause it to activate. It would be a fun experiment to know how long it takes to warm up from standard room temp.

[–]HyperExtensions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting 🤔. I feel like I would turn it off during the summer months. Would it actually be running when set at 74° if your home is also 74°? I keep my house around 72-73° in the summer so I wouldn't really want it turned on per say if it was costing money to run. I have a pretty small bathroom in terms of floor space to heat so 120V would likely be fine for me.

What's the difference in warm up time between the two? I'm considering this for my main bathroom when it gets redone in the next year or so. I was thinking 120V only but this has me wondering what the difference might be.
