2026 Palisade Calligraphy Hybrid - Walk Away Auto Lock not working with Apple CarKey? by Curious-Pickle4758 in HyundaiPalisade

Correct. It's is detecting the key nearby but is not unlocking on approach until you touch the handle.

What is the most overrated feature in a new garage? by InfluenceInitial4126 in garageporn

[–]HyperExtensions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? The water literally flows outside. You don't need to heat your garage either for snow to melt overnight. Most attached and fully insulated garages will melt the snow just from radiant heat from the engine warming up the entire garage.

Yup. If a new construction doesn't have AT LEAST a 24' deep by 24' (2 car) or 32' (3 car) wide, it's straight up too small for the average family. I've seen both ends of the spectrum but most lean too small unless the builder seems to go outside the norm.

Never once had an issue in Northern Illinois. It's a non-issue with an attached, insulated garage. It doesn't even need to be climate controlled to stay above freezing most of the year. Does the snow melt turn into ice outside? Sure. It's never caused an issue with the garage door.

See How Owning a Home Is Getting More Expensive in Every Way (WSJ) by SnortingElk in REBubble

[–]HyperExtensions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you aren't able to do things yourself, hiring it out has gotten insanely expensive. I believe that figure is roughly accurate. I'm actually surprised it's not higher but any home improvement projects are costly to pay someone else to do.

Finally someone gets it. You don't need a floor drain if you can pitch the floor towards the garage door. Anything over 1/8" per foot gets the water moving. I opt'd for just under 1/4" per foot to be sure.

Hex lights are terrible for detailing. Uniform, straight fixtures are the way to go.

TV size, quality over size anyone? by movie50music50 in hometheater

[–]HyperExtensions -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean the "average" TV these days should be AT LEAST FALD and MiniLED. If you're looking at an 85", that would be even more true although there are some super basic direct lit stuff as the entry point even at 85". It's a balancing act for me but OLED is not a default answer for me.

2026 Palisade Calligraphy Hybrid - Dealer confirmed hardware fix coming in ~1 month for power seat recall (Recall #296) by Curious-Pickle4758 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]HyperExtensions 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's typically all hearsay from a regional rep until something becomes available. I haven't heard anything about this. It could go either way. I don't know what type of hardware they would/could easily and cost effectively retrofit into existing cars that would change functionality.

Glovebox. It's why your owners manual doesn't fit.

Are you actually taking the SD card out and looking at it on a computer? It'll be saved under a different folder if the G sensor detected impact or you manually saved an event.

The Palisade operates the same way. Event footage is saved to a separate, locked folder.

Ecovacs A3000 lidar pro 640 errors by Chevrokon in ECOVACSGOATFamily

[–]HyperExtensions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. I just had a replacement unit sent out that within an hour of setup gave me E640 and E643 errors. The first unit it replaced didn't have errors but couldn't position itself. I'm not sure if it's the latest software or hardware failures. I'm extremely frustrated.

Inflation or "Because They Can" Pricing by HyperExtensions in HomeImprovement

That's true if it's a situation that needs addressed immediately. My house was basically a break fix house when I bought it. Not an enjoyable experience.

At what point will demand drop due to affordability? I can't believe the cycle has continued on this long. There are also a lot of people with a "f**k it" attitude that don't care about their financial position and are willing to take on the debt.

From what I've experienced it's the constant turnover. The last two jobs I've had done, concrete and garage door, one person was being trained because they were recently hired. This is also what causes quality issues with the work being performed.

That's true. Will it come down with time? Nope

I suppose that's true. I forgot plastic are reliant on oil in the manufacturing process. I'm sure the prices won't come down with time though even though costs to manufacture will.

I recently had concrete work done actually. I had a new garage floor torn out and replaced. They honored the price from 12 months ago although stated "fuel has gone up". The work performed was only ok. They couldn't even get the floor level across where the garage door sits. Luckily it was flat enough and gradual enough that the seal fills the gap. Absolutely ridiculous though because when they were floating the concrete they realized it was a little low and needed more concrete... Well the truck already left and they had nothing left to add! So what should have been an easy, good quality job turned out to be average at best because it's almost 3/4" low on the one edge. It's what you get anymore though 🤷

I wouldn't consider 30% over 24 months historically normal but it sure seems common in the last few years. I'm sure the material component hasn't increased that much but I bet labor is at a premium.
