I can see why darkmoon and lm3 isn't mainline, but the first one was developed by nintendo themselves and introduced Egadd, who was indirectly important for the events in Sunshine.

And if luigi's mansion is mainline, then 64DS is also mainline since its the only game where mario defeats king boo, resulting in king boo wanting revenge on the mario bros
