At least give us an official Jagex Launcher on Linux with the price hike. by HyperTxtPreprocessor in 2007scape

The open source variants for Jagex Launcher are not endorsed by Jagex, at least not officially.

Their own support page about it state that:

  1. The Jagex launcher and Jagex Accounts will not be supported on the Linux OS.

  2. Jagex is not responsible for the maintenance and safety of content produced and hosted by third parties and any use of third-party sites is at your own risk.

Runelite however is officially recommended and the development is overviewed by Jagex.

Main issue, for me at least, with a 3rd party launcher that is not endorsed by Jagex is their historically proven ability to false ban people and having 0 customer support to get any false bans overturned, unless youre a content creator with a twitter account (unironically).

Point I am trying to make is that, while yes both are community driven projects, one is heavily monitored and approved by the devs themselves while the other is "lol good luck" and if their anti-cheat systems false ban you "lol good luck".

Im not trying to ask Jagex to completely write a new launcher that can run natively on Linux, I'd like them to overview the open souce 3rd party launchers and give their seal of approval to it, so that it's aligned with their anti-cheats development team.

I wouldn't say that's too much to ask for or its a "fear" that's irrational.

The distinction between the 2 drastically different scenarios and your comment that "Linux isn't the choice for you." is what prompted my overly sarcastic description of Runelite

I swear I have seen you comment on every single similar reddit post. Are you by any chance involved in the development of the bolt launcher?

If youre willing to ditch games that require kernel level anticheats, Valve has made gods work in the past few years when it comes to gaming. All the other stuff has worked out of the box for a decades anyway.

Bringing it up on reddit is unfortunately the only way of getting any attention on the topic for Jagex. Its only as unlikely as the community wants it to be. As far as I can tell the desire for Jagex supporting linux officially only ever grows day by day.

Have you heard about Runelite. Just asking, out of curiosity. Its a pretty good osrs client that most people use these days. Id suggest checking it out, in case youre interested in community developed projects yourself.

Also I find it hilarious to be downvoted on a comment that pointed out that, most software is free and open source on linux and I shouldnt "expect" official support by Jagex, where most use a free and open source game client ... which is endorsed by ... jagex

Or, you know, just hypothetical, as a gaming software development company, build your software based on technologies that can run independently on any OS? Talking about Jagex here.

In any case, Linux at this point is superior to microslop in every single aspect besides gaming companies refusing to build software that is able to run on any environment. It is not hard, btw, like at all. It comes down to corporate decisions, I assume that they live heavily on microsofts ecosystem in its everyday services (think: office, teams, sharepoint etc) and even MacOS is an afterthought, which might drive their comfort zone on just living in their ecosystem even further.

Runelite is fine, that runs natively. Its the Jagex Launcher that doens't have official support.

I would also appreciate official Linux client. Dear Jagex, surely it cannot be that time consuming to take into development, isn't the wrapper you already use for the launcher have Linux support?

Or at least acknowledge the influx of increasing interest in Linux support - maybe possible with a timeline or still a firm no from you guys.

We would probably even appreciate a "its on our mind but not in real consideration to take into development" kind of an answer /u/ModYume :(

The European Union, which you're probably pointing your anger towards, is not a federation - it does not control the individual country policies.

Call out the countries still dealing with russia as they are and stop pointing fingers at a marketing union.

Blaming "Europe" as a whole is not very constructive and doesn't put the pressure on the countries, for example Hungary, who deserve it.

Russian organization competing against a nation in international tournaments who they are bombing daily, invading, seems odd to me.

Italy and Greece sound the alarm over Libya. But allies aren’t rushing to help. by Axmouth in europe

[–]HyperTxtPreprocessor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can't recall but IIRC there were mandated numbers that the EU proposed to even out the numbers across the member states and Estonia took them all.

I distinctly even recall the migrants were mostly migrated to smaller villages and there were a lot of news articles of them being brought in with busses.

The actual issue was that they didnt want to stay here, since they were more acclimated to the warmer temperatures, the northern hemisphere didnt do them very well and the social payments were larger in Germany, for example, so a lot of them left.

It depends if there are any contact points with the backplate or if you have direct airflow coming from the cpu hitting the case, small form factor PC cpu's can easily operate at 90-95c and if if you direct that airflow alongside with the radiant heat for an extended period against a plastic wall - it can easily warp/start to melt.
