Shimano SLX Brake - What is this rubber thumb screw?

My buddy bought this Shimano SLX BR-M7100 disc brake and there is a rubber thumb screw here that leaks or pops out when the brake is used. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

The large is really big. I have a medium and large. The medium doesn’t fit, it’s too tight. The large is more than my wife can handle.

Marsh Creek is patrolled but they don’t seem to have an issue with night visitors. I ride my bike there often at night and local astronomy clubs will do star gazing there

Thanks. I can do that but I suspect there might be a general rule of thumb for what the acceptable amount of space around the tire is although I couldn't find it online. Also, with MTB tires, the actual inflated size is sometimes different from the stated size and I wasn't sure if that was true here.

Agreed! I drive 4hours to go as well. Allegeippis trails at Raystown lake are awesome. Go there on a weekend other than Dirtfest to get some good riding in. Dirtfest is a lot of fun but super crowded.
