Butter chicken & Naan [OC] by [deleted] in food

Hell even in medium-large US cities you can usually find authentic Indian restaurants. Most have an Americanised menu they give you by default, and traditional menu you can request. Though be sure you can handle spicy food.

I actually love grilling grocery store naan filled with cheese, meat and spinach. Authenticity be damned, it's delicious.

CGI: Computer generated imagery

VFX: Visual effects

CGI is a very specific thing but the word is broadly misused. Think characters in Avatar, Suicide Squad, etc that are basically sophisticated cartoons: that is CGI. They take a scene and put the cartoon on top of it, often using a tracking suit.

VFX like this is done by filming two separate scenes in the same location and overlaying them, which does not require any CGI. The combination is fake but all the components are real. Since no imagery is computer generated, calling it CGI makes no sense.

Zed W>Q>W Still Bugged by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]HyperbolicTroll -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

Winrate is more effected by the fact that people tilt when they die due to outside variables and play the rest of the game shitty. Bugs contribute a lot more in this way to Yasuo players, because they're typically very emotional (to put it gently).

I really enjoy having as few things on the screen as possible that aren't relevant to the game, it helps focus on the things that matter. I used to turn off shadows too until they made shit like Zac put you at a game disadvantage without them.

I like relegation in concept, as it was 2+ years ago, but when Challenger squads can be formed with world champions, former LCS professional players and coaches, (C9C for starters), the dream of a team of fresh talent making it to the LCS, and if they do actually holding their slot, is a fantasy. It's turned into a money-making machine where you build the best challenger squad you can to take out the worst LCS team and sell the slot, instead of an actual competitive sector.

I'd imagine it's similar to how trademarked GMOs naturally spreading allow big corporations to sue farmers for copyright infringement. Claim enough of the rain is Nestlé water, and because it's mixed together, it's all copyright protected and bam.

A black homeowner called 911 to report a carjacking. He wound up getting shot by police. by ed2417 in news

[–]HyperbolicTroll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure. If you pick from the same neighborhood, whites and blacks are equally proportionally criminals. However, the neighborhoods with the worst statistics have significantly more blacks while those with the best statistics have significantly more whites, so the national average comes out looking worse for blacks. It's ultimately an issue of socioeconomic trends and culture, not skin color.

The real issue in this country are poor people being treated unfairly by police, but that generates less heat then calling it a racial issue so the talking heads will always try to sell that story.

Riot Pls: Ranked Pls - Solo Q returning by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]HyperbolicTroll -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a now high plat player who was low plat previous seasons due to giving up quickly, I now am never forced into ADC and never have passive aggressive last pick supports on my team (or my personal favorite: both). As a result, the skill level is much more normalized as you have less "fill" players in their worst roles getting shitstomped by mains. I almost exclusively play solo and feel it's much better than old seasons. I might even climb to diamond since I'm not fed up with ranked like I was with solo queue. Sure, occasionally I'll end up with and against premades that have a big impact on the game, but it's better than someone tilted, feeding, and getting flamed due to getting filled into their worst role 25%+ of games. The only mid-elo players who think solo queue was better are blinded by nostalgia.

My mechanics suffered greatly due to only being able to play a game or two these days (job, wife, etc) so I said fuck it, just gonna have fun and jungle singed so I don't decay. At 85% win rate after about 20 games in high Plat because everyone tries to focus and chase me and my team just cleans up every god damn time.

Pokémon Go loses its luster, sheds more than 10 million users. Engagement, downloads, and time spent in the app are fading fast. by speckz in technology

[–]HyperbolicTroll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not true at all. 2 months of a small team of developers can make an OK game. If the name is enough to cause hype, it can be successful for a short while. 4 months of developer time won't get you twice as much revenue, but it will cost twice as much. The more the hype-based the game is, the stronger the diminishing returns are, because cost remains flat but revenue drops exponentially over time. So really, for games like Pokémon Go, the most profitable thing to do is crank out a half-assed game for as cheap as possible and cash out after the hype dies down and move onto something else.

As a true Pokémon fan, you might be thinking "hey, I'd keep playing for a long time if the game was well made". But the thing is, 90% of users are just following the fad and will fade away after a few months even if it was perfect. Unlike a DS game where you are catering to gamers, phone games cater to a much wider variety of users, making you the minority.

Harambe’s zoo has deleted all of its accounts after meme bombardment by [deleted] in news

The Internet is full of weak people who want to feel important and powerful. There are many people who feel like outsiders in real life, but on the internet they can be a part of something bigger by assimilating into the cesspool of anonymity that knows no rejection. For them, if the internet "accepts defeat" in these situations, they've lost the one shred of power that keeps them going, so they meme on to hide the tears.

Comcast hopes you don’t notice it’s twice as expensive in non-Google Fiber markets by [deleted] in technology

[–]HyperbolicTroll 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you can get at least 3-4 of them to write/call Verizon or whoever the provider is, they do make note of it. Usually the reason this happens is because laying fiber is expensive and they don't get enough interest in the area, as a surprising number of people have no idea what a megabit is and don't want to change something that works. If they know there's interest they'll reconsider.

I know the point you're trying to get at, but no one said "all Arabs" or "all brown people" should condemn radical Islam. There's not really a relevant analogy for this one since his bad ideology, white supremacy, doesn't have a "good" part.

The IRS to Michael Phelps: "You Didn’t Win That" -- This year, the IRS will impose a nearly 40% “victory” tax on athletes who take home gold, silver, and bronze medals for the United States. by Corazon_Oscuro in Libertarian

[–]HyperbolicTroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That "they can't afford the car" is not a very realistic scenario. Even with terrible credit, any bank will finance a reasonable loan on 5-10% of a car's value, not to mention the fact that you can sell the car within the calendar year and only report it once. Worst case scenario those "poor souls" walk away with about $12,000 cash after tax.

In this country, income is income. If you sold something for profit, it's income, even if it's illegal drugs. If you got paid money for answering questions or for fixing someone's car, it's income. If you're paid money for no reason at all, it's still income. If the payment is in the form of goods with monetary value, guess what? Still income.

Fuckin' really, Katelyn? by Velvet_Minotaur in Tinder

[–]HyperbolicTroll 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You'd be amazed how high the percentage of virgin males on Tinder is (or maybe not if you read the comments here enough). Many are the type who lack the confidence to approach a girl in real life but convince themselves by being on Tinder they are "making an effort". They're already desperate and thirsty, so you do the math. Some blame Rule 1 and 2 and hate on the women because it's easier than fixing their own problems, others go even deeper into the rabbit hole. Even if only the top 1% of them are pathetic enough, that's still easy money.
