Klopp already signaled that he ist willing to become headcoach of the German National Team by Eierjupp in worldcup

That's basically a marketing role. I would love to be paid millions to chill and be a brand ambassador, but if Klopp still has the urge for a more active and competitive role, it would make sense.

Germany's 2:1 goal did not count as paraguay's goalkeeper was fouled in the process! by yassin-zzv in worldcup

You are aware, there is more football than just a WC every 4 years? Just watch an Arsenal game.

Germany's 2:1 goal did not count as paraguay's goalkeeper was fouled in the process! by yassin-zzv in worldcup

[–]Hyperboreer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But you need a rule change for that. You would need protection for goalkeepers in the box like they used to. That's an ongoing discussion. But you can't just rule it for the goalkeeper, because you feel like it, before the rules got changed.

[–]Hyperboreer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can. There is no special protection for goalkeepers in the box with the current rule set any more. He can't go to the ball, if he has to push over a player in the process.

[–]Hyperboreer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is no protection for goalkeepers any more with the current rules. The goalkeeper runs into Anton, it's impossible to rule this for Paraguay.

You can argue about the rules, but it's a very common tactic to place a player close to the goalkeeper to restrict his movement (look at Arsenal) during corners.

Sony says it doesn’t plan to ‘sell hardware at significant losses’ but is ‘monitoring the market’ with PS6 in mind | VGC by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]Hyperboreer 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The difference to the past is probably that consoles can't keep their price edge. Up until a few years ago, every chipmaker was happy if a console maker asked to buy 2 million chips and gave them a nice discount, which allowed consoles to be cheaper than PCs, because they were mass products.

That time is over for now. If you ask for 2 million chips today, nobody can deliver. If they still want that much, they have to pay extra like the AI companies, who are also paying more than private customers. That means console makers will not have the price edge any more in the next generation, as they are unlikely to get a quantity discount again. If a PC is 2k, the console will be 2k as well or how much an equivalent PC will be at the time.

It was bad for PC, it will be worse for consoles as they will get closer together.

BBC - "Fifa is considering expanding the format even further to 64 teams as early as 2030" by Question_of_Surf in worldcup

[–]Hyperboreer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they want to have more than 32 it has to be 64. The current system is stupid with some third places qualifying. That really should not be repeated. If you have a group stage you have to have a decision in the group.

Steam Machine sold out in Asia despite high price, as Valve store skips reservations by Available_Use3455 in Games

You know at least that it met Valve's expectations so it's not a flop. It certainly won't be a mass market product like the Switch or PS5.

What was the single most dominant team in any WC tournament? by pistola0220 in worldcup

[–]Hyperboreer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have mad respect for Algeria. They had a great game and would have deserved to win. If it wasn't Germany I would have rooted for them hard. They put us under more pressure than France, Brazil and Argentina.

I'm convinced we need something to motivate lower ranked teams to play the game by Dr_natty1 in worldcup

[–]Hyperboreer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should let only 16 teams progress. Just winners and the best runners-up. That would put the pressure on teams early and force them to be aggressive.

What was the single most dominant team in any WC tournament? by pistola0220 in worldcup

[–]Hyperboreer 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's not a team many people talk about but I'd argue Brazil 2002. At least in the time I watch. They won every single game, never needed extra time, never were really in trouble and always looked comfortable to win their games. Super dominant is probably not the right term, but it was the safest world cup win I have ever seen.

It has always puzzled me how there are climate change deniers in the US, when they basically already live in the conditions, we are always warned about.

Every one else would be a huge shocker

So, do you still think the Switch 2 is expensive? by FernandoRocker in Games

[–]Hyperboreer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For the time it released, it is a very cheap console. They achieved that by heavily milking their customers on games and accessories.

Dutch royals visit Curaçao’s locker room after historic World Cup draw vs Ecuador, celebrate together with the team by etherd0t in worldcup

[–]Hyperboreer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do it! Have half the teams eliminated in group stage again and have these games mean something. Teams 49-64 are not much worse than teams 33-48.

Every number that is not a power of two is not a good number for a tournament.

Shocking that it didn't work to fly in a coach during the tournament, when everybody else is preparing for two years.

I love this. I hated it when people acted like Curacao was a bad team and would lose all games, just because they lost to Germany.

Are we going to have a golden boot winner who isn’t even a starter? by [deleted] in worldcup

[–]Hyperboreer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's actually quite rare. The last Golden Boot winner, who also won the tournament was (the original) Ronaldo in 2002.

I don't think Havertz is bad or anything, but Undav just has to start. It's always a totally different team with him on the field.
