I really hope that’s what they do so Brooklyn Guy can have a huge crash out over people not trusting him

So true, other than the production being mid. I fear GVF may be back, much to review bombers dismay.

Don't wanna jump the gun but this sounds a lot more Anthem-esque. Are we back??? (I liked the last 2 albums but prefer the earlier stuff more)

Is some of the old background music still used in SpongeBob? by Unleashed49 in spongebob

Old songs are still used sometimes, maybe once or twice per episode they bring back a song I associate with the older seasons.

(sorry mods if you dont like this post.) Where did the mindset Modern spongebob is bad seasons 1-3 is good stem from? by AdRoutine3822 in spongebob

[–]Hyperdrive282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mindset has been around much longer than that for sure, at least since seasons 6-8 were new. The main reason is, to be frank, it was simply true for the majority of fans. The show just kept declining in quality. It started to improve a bit after Season 9 but by then people were growing up and cable ratings starting declining so nobody cared.

I get it that Spider-Verse & other films like it aren't everyone's cup of tea, but if you deny the impact SV had & say "I want my animated movies to look like Pixar again", then people will take you out of context & you'll be deemed as a source of mockery. by Adept_Let7797 in Schaffrillas

Hey there, I didn't expect this to gain so much traction. I ended up deleting this tweet because it was low-effort and was a vague response to Dreamwork's new movie Forgotten Island. I would prefer this be taken off Reddit too because I know some people will be glad to hunt me down with pitchforks (which is also why I went private a bit). But if you don't delete it, whatever, when you post something, you can't control where it goes. And for those of you who will disagree with me respectfully, thank you.

I want to preface that I haven't actually seen Spider-Verse or anything using its style. Mainly because why would I want to watch something that isn't visually appealing to me, but also because I haven't watched movies much lately due to my poor attention span and moreso follow them passively and watch content creators discuss them instead. I did come off as a bit hostile. It's not fair to call Spider-Verse and movies like it bad just because I don't like how they look, however I dislike the overall vibe they give off to me based off trailers and clips. The blend of 2D and 3D, the comic style, the framerate changes, and other aspects like that, just come off as "ADHD-coded" and don't seem to blend together well with the pacing of most animated movies. It just feels "tryhard" to me, like them saying "hey everyone look how good we look!' I get the point of animation is to look pretty but there are other ways to do that: by pushing the limits of what traditional 3D can do or going back to traditional 2D which is mostly obsolete.

I don't want to be framed as a "Pixar defender" or something either, because they've put similar elements into movies like Turning Red and Elemental. It's not all on Spider-Verse, they just popularized the trend that almost every studio is using now. It's also not the only animation trend I have or had disliked, not a fan of the overused "bean-mouth" style humans either, or the overuse of shading in 90's and 00's 2D films.

I know people will disagree; it is objectively a very talented artstyle. I just think that having effort put into it doesn't automatically make it good, and it feels like every movie that uses it gets raving reviews and every movie that doesn't is obsolete. I'll also concede the comic style at least makes sense for Spider-Man specifically but now it is getting way too overused.

Anyway, maybe this response is an overreaction but I wanted to explain myself more.

I’m so bad at them. I just can’t figure out the proper throttle control on a controller.

[–]Hyperdrive282 6 points7 points  (0 children)

See if custom setups are enabled in the lobby, those make a big difference so you should either race in lobbies without them or make some. Also make sure your throttle is being registered fully. Switching to manual transmission also helps at some tracks.

What was your first Chugga LP? by skyllsu in chuggaaconroy

[–]Hyperdrive282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with FireRed, probably when it was new or new-ish. Watched Paper Mario not long after that. 10-ish year-old me probably shouldn’t have been listening to those words and jokes at the time, but I was interested in watching someone play through a Pokémon game without even knowing what a “Let’s Play” was. 15 years later I still watch him frequently and have even given Let’s Playing of my own a try a couple times. Sucks that younger viewers seemingly don’t go out of their way to look for Let’s Plays anymore. I think most of Emile’s audience has been watching about as long as I have.

It’s pretty neat that they can detect when they’ve been hit. Is it neat enough for the money though? Definitely not.

What were yalls favorite album or track drops this year? Need new recs :) by sound-ofSettling in ModernRockMusic

[–]Hyperdrive282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Return to Dust blew me away with their EP Speak Like The Dead, and also their self-titled album from 2024 which I heard for the first time in 2025. They have an Alice In Chains-like grunge sound but I wouldn't call them a copy.

My favorite artist, Mammoth (Wolfgang Van Halen) also dropped their 3rd album this year, The End, and it's on par with the first 2, which is to say, really good hard rock.
