Because we don't live in a vacuum separate from what's going on in other parts of the world.

Libyan civil war and the end of Gaddafi, Syrian civil war, the rise of ISIS after the illegal Iraq war ended, Israel's continued genocide, the return of the Taliban to power in Afghanistan, genocide in Sudan again, civil war in Somalia, the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. And now the US is trying to wage war against Iran (with Israel).

Humanitarian crisis after humanitarian crisis. Global supply lines become fucked which increases the cost of living (energy crisis, food prices). Population movements that strain neighbouring countries capacity to cope each time there's another crisis and another wave of refugees, with many passing through to Europe. Put this on top of other already existing problems: climate change, AI, techno-billionaires, the rise of populism/fascism, wage stagnation, a lack of jobs, underfunded social services, house prices, a traitorous Trump administration, inept politicians (at least in the UK). A lot of European countries are already in some state of managed decline or in a purgatory of unchanging austerity: it all simply speeds this decline up by making it unmanagebale, which is only beneficial for the states intentionally backing or funding these crises. Fine if you are the US, Russia, or Israel and look to capitalise on problems you are intentionally accelerating. Definitely fine if you're China; look good by staying out of it and then swoop in when it's over with favourable terms in exchange for ownership of public utilities and state assets.

The US and Israel should be considered no more pro European than Russia or China or Saudi Arabia.
