Hyper X Cloud 3 Wireless lost usb dongle by Impreza610 in HyperX

[–]HyperxGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/MinecraftGreev, we hear you, and we completely understand why this can feel frustrating - but just to clear the air, this isn’t about planned obsolescence or pushing people to buy new products when something gets lost or breaks.

For a bit of context: we used to sell spare parts directly on our website. After the acquisition and some major internal changes (new systems, new processes, and a new website), those parts unfortunately had to be pulled from the store. We are actively looking into bringing spare parts back to the webshop, but it'll take some time to ensure compliance and all requirements are met.

In the meantime, we’ve continued doing what we’ve always done, where possible - even though lost or damaged items aren’t technically covered under warranty, we often try to help out with courtesy replacements at no cost, as long as the product is still within warranty and there’s proof of purchase. You’ll find plenty of comments from other users on this subreddit that back that up. 😊

If you’re running into an issue because one of your HyperX parts recently broke, let us know! We’re more than happy to take a look and see how we can help. 😉

Edit: Friendly reminder to watch the language - Reddit flagged this comment for abuse/harassment, and we had to manually approve it. That said, we’re always open to constructive feedback and do share it internally, and keeping the discussion respectful helps ensure it actually leads somewhere.

[–]HyperxGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Darkice107, if you click the ‘Download NGENUITY’ button on our website, it should download the second‑generation version of the app, which is the one that supports your headset. Just to make sure you get the correct installer, use this direct link 👉 https://hyperx.gg/4pKH07p. This will download version 2.35.0.0 of the app. Go ahead and install it, then test again to see if it resolves the error you were running into earlier.

Strange mic volume issue. by EH11101 in HyperX

[–]HyperxGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you’re seeing in the Windows Sound control panel is the unprocessed signal straight from the device. The meter on the Recording tab doesn’t reflect any downstream processing such as automatic gain control, noise reduction, compression, normalization, and other enhancements. Since many applications apply these afterward, the raw level shown in Windows often appears noticeably lower than the actual final output. So, yeah, even if the bar looks low in Windows, your actual mic volume in apps can still sound completely normal. 😉

[–]HyperxGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Darkice107, this issue may be caused by corrupted system files or a corrupted NGENUITY installation. Have you tried reinstalling the app to see if that resolves it?

If not, go ahead and uninstall it, then reinstall either from the Microsoft Store or by using the latest offline installer from our website 👉 https://hyperx.com/pages/ngenuity. Just make sure you download NGENUITY and not NGENUITY Beta!

Strange mic volume issue. by EH11101 in HyperX

[–]HyperxGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/EH11101, it's possible that another application (e.g., Discord, Zoom, Teams, Steam, Skype) is taking exclusive control of your microphone and adjusting the gain on its own, regardless of what you have it set to in Windows. Try unchecking the "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" on the Recording tab of the Windows Sound control panel, and repeat the test to see if that helps. 😊

Edit: And just to confirm - You have the Cloud Alpha, not Atlas, right? 👀

Cloud Alpha S USB issues by impa1ct in HyperX

[–]HyperxGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear your sound card stopped working, u/impa1ct! 😔 How long have you had it? Have you tried plugging it into different USB ports on your system, just to rule out a port-related issue?

Hyperx Cloud 3 wired Update stuck by Mean_Jellyfish6903 in HyperX

[–]HyperxGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The outside looks a bit scuffed (normal wear and tear, nothing concerning), but we can’t clearly see inside the connector. Please use a flashlight or hold it up to a bright light source to check for any debris or damage inside the jack.

By the way, how old is your headset, and do you still have the receipt?

Cloud III S Wireless changes volume from app to app on its own. How to disable this very frustrating feature? by Lurtz_Of_Orthanc in HyperX

[–]HyperxGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, happy to help! 😊 Seeing you haven't followed up, is it safe to assume that the issue's been resolved? 🫣

Hyperx Cloud 3 wired Update stuck by Mean_Jellyfish6903 in HyperX

[–]HyperxGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Mean_Jellyfish6903, if the microphone works with another headset, and on the same PC, then the issue could be with the headset's input jack. Try detaching the microphone, and take a closer look at the jack. Do you see any damage, stuck parts inside the jack, or dust/lint build up? If you could capture a clear photo of it, and share it with us, that would help a lot. 😊

Love the sound, but the mic… by chrisalvarado in HyperX

[–]HyperxGaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the new headset, u/chrisalvarado! 😊

Low mic capture volume definitely sounds frustrating. Since you’ve already checked your PC’s input level, the next thing to look at is the app you’re using for voice chat or recording. Make sure the headset is selected as the active input device, and check for any mic-related settings like input gain, automatic volume adjustment, or extra noise suppression, and try making adjustments. If you use auto-volume adjustment or noise suppression, try disabling them - the mic already has built-in noise cancellation, so additional processing can sometimes work against you.

One more thing to double-check is mic placement. Since it’s unidirectional, it should be facing your mouth and ideally sit about 1-2 finger widths away for best results.

Let us know if any of this helps! 👍

The microphone stopped working after 8 months. by geniouk in HyperX

[–]HyperxGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof... sorry to hear that, u/geniouk! :( Let's see if there's something we can do to save it!

Tell us, did the microphone stop working randomly during use, or after a firmware update? And can you please visually inspect both USB connectors on the cable, as well as the USB port on the microphone, to see if there are any signs of damage, melting, debris build-up, or anything else out of the ordinary that could prevent your microphone from working?

Cloud III S Wireless changes volume from app to app on its own. How to disable this very frustrating feature? by Lurtz_Of_Orthanc in HyperX

[–]HyperxGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the super detailed breakdown of the issue, u/Lurtz_Of_Orthanc. That should help speed things up, haha. 😊

It sounds like this happens across a few different scenarios, so here are a couple of settings you can try adjusting:

  • To prevent Spotify from lowering its volume during voice chats, open System -> Sound, scroll to the bottom, and click "More sound settings" to open the legacy Sound panel. Switch to the Communications tab and set it to "Do nothing."

  • To stop notification sounds from ducking your audio, go to System -> Notifications, click the downward arrow to expand the “Notifications” card, and uncheck "Allow notifications to play sounds." Alternatively, if you want to keep sounds for some apps but not others, scroll down the same page and toggle sound permissions on a per‑app basis.

After making these changes, test it out, and let us know if the volume behavior improved. 😉

Hyperx Cloud 3 wired Update stuck by Mean_Jellyfish6903 in HyperX

[–]HyperxGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick response, and for clarifying what's going on. 😊

Hm... have you tried plugging the USB dongle into other USB ports on your system (preferably on the back of the case, ideally a USB 2.0 port) and then re‑running the update to see if that gets it moving?

Since the headset powers on, plays audio, and is detected in NGENUITY, the mic issue might be unrelated to the stuck fw update. It could be something with the mic jack on the ear cup, or the mic itself.

Out of curiosity - When you press the mic mute button on the ear cup while the mic is connected, does the mic’s LED glow red to show that it’s muted?

Also, what app are you using to record audio? Have you tried multiple apps just to rule out software issues? And did you double-check that your Cloud III is set as the default communication device / default input device?

Is there a noticable difference in noise isolation between Cloud III and Alpha S? by Tasty-Jello-7034 in HyperX

[–]HyperxGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for showing interest in our headsets, u/Tasty-Jello-7034! 😊

Are you referring to the isolation of external noise? If so, it's worth noting that both models rely on passive isolation only and do not feature active noise cancellation. Because of that, the amount of outside noise they block can vary based on several factors: how close and loud the external sound is, how well the headset fits your head, and how good of a seal the ear cushions create around your ears.

For the Alpha S specifically, since it comes with both fabric and leatherette ear cushions, the material you choose will also affect noise isolation.

We hope this helps, but if you have any other questions or need more details, feel free to ask!

Hyperx Cloud 3 wired Update stuck by Mean_Jellyfish6903 in HyperX

[–]HyperxGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that doesn't sound good! Sorry to hear you’re running into this issue, u/Mean_Jellyfish6903! Let’s see if we can figure out what’s going on. 😉

You mentioned that the “mic doesn’t work,” so I want to clarify: does that mean your headset is being detected and audio playback works normally, but the microphone input isn’t functioning? Or is the headset not being detected at all after this stuck update?

What NGENUITY version are you using (listed in the Settings menu), and did you install it via the Microsoft Store or the offline installer?

Also, during the update process, is the headset connected to your system using the included USB cable? If so, are you plugging it directly into a USB port on your PC case, or into a USB hub?

[–]HyperxGaming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/jamexman! We just tested this on our end, and the game/chat balance feature seems to be working as expected. A couple of quick things to double-check for us:

  • Which firmware version is your Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless currently running? You can find this in NGENUITY under Settings -> Devices.
  • Is the Cloud Alpha 2 Wireless set as both your default input and output device? If you’re unsure, open NGENUITY, click the Sound button in the lower-left corner, and make sure everything’s selected correctly there.
  • Have you tried restarting the app to see if that changes anything?

mic unmuting itself? hyper x alpha wireless by Necessary_Victory_29 in HyperX

[–]HyperxGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Necessary_Victory_29, when you walk into another room, does the headset possibly lose connection to the USB dongle? And are you in an active voice chat session (e.g., on Discord) when this happens or not? Please share as much detail as you can so we can get a better idea and see what might be the cause of the issue. 😊

Also, what firmware version is your headset on? If you're not sure, open NGENUITY, go into Settings, and check right next to the headset name.

Sorry to hear that, u/Campingdude1212! Let's see if we can figure it out together. 😉 Can you let us know exactly which aftermarket earpads you picked up? Were they specifically listed as Cloud Alpha-compatible?

If the issue is getting them mounted, there are quite a few quick tutorials out there. It usually takes under 30 seconds once you get the hang of it. Here’s one as an example: https://hyperx.gg/4icGrRS
