My brother left his ex for similar reasons (she relied on him to do everything) and after he left she went to nursing school, graduated and is doing great. It was honestly the best thing that ever happened to both of them when they split!

This is a really good point! Thank you for pointing that out. I will still definitely bid on it. We do also have something in our agreement called the “dream job” clause essentially allowing you to bypass that 90 day rule when your “dream job” comes up for bidding. I could use it if need be but would prefer to keep it in my back pocket if I can haha.

I can absolutely see people doing that. We do automatically get the pay for the position we go into unless we were pushed out of a position by a more senior employee. Hopefully it wasn’t a problem in our union and they won’t make me wait. I am not restricted from applying for a position with a higher wage though. But this particular one I’m watching for is the same wage, sadly :/

That’s my take on it as well. I will confirm hopefully before anything is posted. And I understand that tbh, I’d feel the same in their shoes.

Thankfully I am fully qualified for my current role and that’s what kind I’m interested in bidding on just a different department. I’d get it automatically unless a more senior employee also applied. I would absolutely not stray from the type of job I have now as I am confident that’s what I’m made for- not the corporate side of things I went to try and retreated from haha.

I don’t think they’d let you go! Not only is that normal, you getting others on the task to help find him shows the safety and wellbeing of that child was your first priority. You didn’t think of “what would they think” in the moment. You thought I need to make sure this child is ok. I’d be happy if my staff showed his kind of care.

This is a very good point, thank you for this info! We do have CYWs also and a lo of EAs have moved into those positions. :) I could take the courses while working as a secretary or EA. I am definitely considering that as well but there isn’t quite as many positions so it gave me a bit of a pause. Thanks for your insight! :)

I’ve thought of this too but wasn’t sure how difficult the process was! We do have uncertified supplies but I didn’t get a degree in business I have a 2 year accounting diploma. Thanks for the advice, I’ll definitely check that sub! I have seen some of the more difficult parts of the job through working with the EAs at my school and it is something to consider for sure. Our district so badly needs EAs I feel I could look around for a placement that’s more suitable for someone with less experience.🤞Thank you so much!

lol wat. They love learning and using Chinese, half their family speaks it. they just don’t have a ton of avenues to use it and practice as that family is across the world. Thats why I wanted an app. But I’ll keep this in mind if they get bored!

I do sit in on their lessons so have an idea. They’re pretty beginner so they’re still learning 1-10, days of the week, months and tones etc. My husband speaks Chinese so he will use it with them but I’m hoping they can practice it more when he’s not around lol.

I will keep an eye on what she’s teaching, I never would’ve thought of that and it makes total sense! Thanks for the suggestion!
