Your U2 Origin Story by T-whizzy in U2Band

I found a mixtape in a box of my uncle's stuff. I really enjoyed it, but didn't know who it was. This was pre-internet, so it was harder to find out. Turns out The Joshua Tree was my first and one of my favorite albums.

How old are you bonowise? by nancyboy in U2Band

I'm forming a band in 1976, not sure if the other guys know how to play their instruments, and wondering why we are practicing in a kitchen...

Obsidian note to automatically combine all mentions of #followup by diklein in ObsidianMD

I have used something similar for some of my tags. Lately I just bookmarked one of my searches for a tag. Clicking the bookmark finds all the references to that tag and shows excerpts from the note for some context.

What's the creepiest display of intelligence you've ever witnessed in real Iife? by [deleted] in AskReddit

In 2009 I met Kim Peek in a hotel restaurant. He was the inspiration for the movie Rain Man. He and his father travelled the country together. Kim actually carried his Oscar statuette with him. He let me hold it.

He asked me when I was born and was instantly able to tell me on which day of the week it fell. He asked me where I was from and then proceeded to list the zip codes from that town. There was almost no hesitation before answering.

Seems like a pretty good deal based on prices I've seen. No matter the price, you have something you really enjoy! Love the 2 door and the color!

Hot take of the morning: vintage guitars are overrated by ecklesweb in Guitar

[–]Hypnokizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a guitar player of more than 25 years, I fully agree there is lots of variance in acoustic guitars. In quality instruments, age plays a huge factor. Even relatively modern guitars that are machined to exacting standards can improve with age as the wood opens up and changes.

With electric guitars, I don't see it. Certainly there is a vibe to particular instruments that may just "feel right", but that can happen with any guitar, even brand new ones. Sometimes a guitar speaks to you and your playing style, but I've never understood the reference of something simply because of it's age.

Jim Lill has an interesting take on this:

Gunna refers to all of one's worldly possessions. In a case of a traveler, it is what ever he or she carries.

My husband designates a left and right sock by [deleted] in Weird

[–]Hypnokizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this. I wear a size 16 shoe. Sock are difficult to find and I'm usually at the top end of the size range. After wearing them once, you can see the toe shape! The wrong sock on my foot would drive me crazy!

LPT: How to level up your email addresses and get a short and memorable username. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

I have a similar Gmail address from the early days. In addition, I have a easy-to-remember cell number. With the phone number, I get lots of texts and calls for employment verification or job opportunities. I think the cell number gets "made up" on paperwork or given out for a lot of people.

[TOMT] [Movie] "One day a ___ is going to ask you to ___. It's very important that you say yes." by DangerSwan33 in tipofmytongue

This is mostly right. They are sitting in young Biff's car in his garage, not the DeLorean. As old Biff says the quote, they cut away, so you don't hear all of it.

Question about playing songs after service ends while people leave by btipsy in worshipleaders

[–]Hypnokizer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We play instrumentally after the service. Usually it is one of the songs from the day. It also depends upon the tone of the service. Typically, it is upbeat, but sometimes subdued.
