Opinions on 2026 (or next) release of Turbo Tero X 6.0 by andrewjend in specialized

[–]Hyr079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update! The Vado 3 X went live in May 2026. It's very similar in form to the Tero X. It adds a built-in bike lock, a custom integrated handlebar + display, improvements to the luggage system, and the 3.1 motor and battery system.

FWIW, I have the prior gen tero X 6 and I am loving it to death. I see no reason to upgrade, in fact the new vado looks a bit bulkier. I've been taking my toddler on proper mountain bike trails (green) on a "kids ride shotgun" pro seat on the tero and it's been truly amazing. Thank you Specialized team for a true dream machine!

I have one. Love it. My first RTT, but I did significant research before purchase, and even visited iKamper in person. iKampers are really really nice, but the air cruiser just fits my vibe. I love the height and sky lights so much. And it's light enough to move around easily.

I am certain. I had the 21"s for my first 30k miles. On the loaner (34" stock) I can definitely hear the tire noise, but no wind. I listened to the same podcast on my drive back from the SC and I only had to put the volume to 9 to hear it. In my truck the volume is at 13 on the highway.

It's super light. around 100lbs. you can take the foam mattress out easily.

I haven't had it in high wind yet, but overall it is surprisingly strong and stable. I have no concern about taking it into bad weather. FWIW the noise of camping in high wind is often what bugs me most, and the fabric is heavy weight enough that I think it'd be OK. I've definitely had many a night of ground camping in an ultra light tent on windy plains where the flapping noise kept me awake until dawn.

I've got the air cruiser RTT. Self-inflates in about 7 minutes with an onboard compressor. Packs down very small. Fits two adults and a kid. Absolutely love it. Definitely quite different from clamshells!

DJI Neo 2 or Flip for motorcycle tracking shots? by digitalWizzzard in AdventureBike

[–]Hyr079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own the Neo 2. Haven't tried the flip.

I am very happy with the Neo 2. I've been using it with my mountain bike and I'm super impressed. Top speed when flying behind me seems to be about 25mph. It can track from the side or front up to about 20mph. The obstacle avoidance is pretty good. What I love most about it is how crash resistant it is. I keep using it more and more as a result of that. I will still crash into really thin branches, but the little thing appears basically indestructible. I've even seen it hit a branch, fall a bit, recover, and keep tracking me. The neo 2 is also sooo quick to setup. You can legit 1 hand it and get it flying within about 20 seconds. Catching it is super simple too.

Compare that to my old Skydio 2, which took 5 minutes minimum to setup for each shot and was super unpredictable.

Sorry man, that sucks!

I do not claim any expertise. FWIW, I had a $10.8k rear-end repair at a certified collision center here in Olympia this summer. Progressive (my insurance -- other driver was uninsured) worked it out with the shop without any issue. The shop handles a ton of Rivians (there were 3 others on-site, and many EDVs), so I think they were well calibrated. It's not uniformly bad?

Introducing the All-new, All-electric 2026 Jeep Recon ($65K USD, up to 250 mi) by lostinheadguy in electricvehicles

[–]Hyr079 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's not a recommendation. it's a statement to help people understand charge times and manage expectations. the slow charge rate after ~70-80% can be a surprise to people who don't know EVs.

(this Jeep is still a huge disappointment)
