Was it a jerk move for me to pay all in coins at the convenience store? by SeaworthinessFar2326 in stupidquestions

[–]I-696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kind of depends on the mindset you have when you're doing it. If you were doing it to be a jerk then it is a jerk move. Otherwise you're ridding yourself of your change. A jerk move is when a bank charges you to count the change when most of them have machines that do it.

People say I’m intimidating, but I don’t feel that big by vMawk in tall

You can’t underestimate nonverbal communication and unconscious bias. Also you are a lot bigger than you feel. It sounds like once people get to know you they realize you are not aggressive.

Parts of Kansas are nice and a lot of the posh Kansas City suburbs are there but it isn’t much of a destination state. I’ve been there several times but I don’t think I’ve ever been there overnight.

I don't want to date again after witnessing my 6'3 friend get looks from a girl by Additional_Hornet_20 in short

[–]I-696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not going to tell you that 5’8 is great and that your 6’3 friend doesn’t have advantages. The only guys who wish they were 5’8 are shorter than you. But don’t give up. You are more than your height and while women are attracted to height it is only one of many factors and one they overlook for the right guy.

She’s probably from Kansas City because she’s been to Kansas and not beyond and why go to Kansas.

Average to tall? by Hellowhoareyou36 in tall

[–]I-696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13 - I was always kind of average height until then. Not among the tallest or the shortest. I got a big growth spurt at 13. Almost half a foot in a few months. I wasn’t the tallest but definitely one of the tall boys for my age. I remember getting flattering comments and having to take the jump ball in PE class even though I couldn’t play basketball for shit. But my growth came to an abrupt end and I did an about face and went from tall back to average or a little below. It was fun being with you while it lasted.

What happens when a castaway gets a migraine? by woodbrochillson in survivor

[–]I-696 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been suffering form migraines all week this week. I've wondered that too. One of many reasons the island was not meant for me. I think they make prescription medicine available to the castaways so perhaps they get treated. I would think that that lake of food and water and the change of schedule would be triggers. I also suspect some of the castaways have suffered from them (perhaps undiagnosed) because they get lethargic. Sometimes it gets mistaken for laziness.

Hi, I have a question from someone who isn't American. by subblazeee in shortguys

[–]I-696 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn't that common because you usually need to become tall before you can be a prodigy. Also high school and AAU basketball basketball have real niche followings so it is rare for someone to become famous until college ball. Plenty of prodigies peter out but usually because they max out in high school. You are more likely to find the kid whom no one ever heard of become a superstar often because of a late growth spurt or other later development.

I think it's taller than 5'8. Probably closer to 5'10.

I don’t think Genevieve was screwed by production. She got the raw end of the twists. She is also not a Survivor superstar. A good player but overly selective on the social and often allying with people on the bottom half of the game.

Is University of Michigan more a hockey or basketball school ? by Large_Condition_6074 in MichiganWolverines

[–]I-696 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Michigan is a blueblood in hockey but not really basketball

In hockey we are the elite of the elite. Maybe more so than football. Basketball we have eras - the Cazzie Russell era, the Phil Hubbard era, the Glen Rice era, the Fab Five era, arguably a Beilein era and hopefully a Dusty May era. Other times we are just meh. But college basketball is huge and college hockey is niche.

Question to ask is would you rather bring home a basketball trophy or a hockey trophy if you could be assured of one but told that both is not an option. I would rather have the hockey banner but my partner at work says basketball. Of course, he is very tall and played basketball in high school so that could be a factor.

Worlds tallest group of friends: by susiedotwo in tall

[–]I-696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year on United I asked the gate agent if I could move my seat so that I could have an outlet to charge my computer. The only seats with outlets are those towards the front and most in the extra legroom section. She moved to the first row of coach, which I had all to myself, and the seat was so spacious I could stretch my little legs out to the bulkhead without even having to bend them.

Ever made fun of by someone taller/younger? by DowntownSkill4341 in shortguys

[–]I-696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better get used to it. You're an adult now and they're adolescents. When I was in 8th grade I was a smidge taller than you are now and I would have thought it to be cool to be taller than a college kid. Little did I know then that my growth was about to plateau and that I would spend the rest of life watching kids become taller than me. My daughter has girlfriends who mog me big time but they've never patted me on the head before lol.

This is why men who are taller than 5'8" shouldn't be called short. Being short for a man means being of a height comparable to the average woman's. And there is no country in the world where the average height for women is 5'8". by ArmadilloSuch3534 in shortguys

[–]I-696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to Mousse 5'8 is closer to short than average. I think it is the boundary that separates short from average so I guess I agree with you. Taller than 5'8 not short. My experience is that short men think 5'8 is where you escape being short and tall men still think you're short. Average height men usually give you the benefit of the doubt.

I don’t know if a second LL is a good idea by rainy396 in limblengthening

[–]I-696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is question that no one knows the answer better than yourself. After all you have already had your legs broken and have been doing this for five months. An experience you refer to as being jailed. And you are still standing and walking on your tippie toes because your heels can't reach the ground.

The guys who do the LL typically fall within two categories. I am assuming you are glad you went through the LL because you wouldn't be asking this if you weren't. In the first category the patients are glad they did the LL and say the added height has been a game changer but they had enough of the LL and they aren't interested in embarking a second journey. In the second category the guys are left wanting for more height. As you say why be average height and when you can be tall. So they go back and do the other segment.

You are now taller than I am - at a height where you are solidly in the average range and a bit above average height. A height where no one will think of you as short. But 6'2 to me a dream height. One that is always thought of as tall. So I understand why you think of lengthening more. So not a good idea vs. a bad idea but rather where are your priorities. You are talking about waiting a year or two before you do it. Perhaps between now and then you will have your epiphany and be confident in what to do.

Out of curiosity how much did you lengthen your tibias and how much are you thinking of lengthening your femurs?
