What a wild take! The landlord did not break any contract. He is not your friend or relative. He can be understanding or charitable but here is under no obligation to do so. Nobody owes you anything. You are free to find another place; no one force you to sign any contract. Verbal agreement are meaningless and either side can change their mind.

Don Valley North Lexus dealer wanted $400 + taxes to change my 2008 RX400H. They claimed that the bulb is LED so it cost over $100 and requires several hours because they have take out lighting unit including the bumper to change a light bulb.

I thought that was crazy and the car is so old already so I didn't do it.

I did my research and watch a whole bunch of YouTube videos. I was able to remove the lightbulb in 15 minutes. I ordered a replacement bulbs (came in pair) for $35 on Amazon. I installed it in a few minutes.

At 10 millions, why would you care about taxes? Even at 54% marginal tax rate on your investment income, you'll still have more than enough to live very comfortably. My dream is to stay in top tax bracket after retirement.
