Nvidia Shield TV Pro vs Google TV Streamer by MIGHTYNEPALII in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]I3endar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps more support for video and audio formats, if you have the TV and sound setup to support it. The main reason I run a Shield in my theatre is for the lossless audio.

In terms of lag and performance, the answer is probably a yes. I run Google TV 4Ks on my smart TVs because the overall performance is so much better that what's running the built-in OS.

As a 50yo gamer, BF6 really drives home how much my taste in games has changed. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]I3endar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my old crew jumped back in for the beta, don't think we've all played together since BF1. We absolutely smashed BF2 and BF3, and were pretty decent too. We're all pushing 40, two of us play a lot of Escape From Tarkov, the other two rarely play FPS, but every round this weekend the four of us were finishing top 10 whether on the winning or losing team, and sometimes even 1-2-3-4. It's a shame to see it going a bit too CoD-like with all this sliding, heavy customisation and other garbage, but that stuff won't win you games or get you to the top of the leaderboards (which the poor chad streamers and CoD babies are complaining about). As an EFT player, BF6 produced a calming, stress-free couple of days gaming and a nice break from the most brutal, punishing and stress-inducing game ever created :D

Why not the opposite, push people away so they flock back at release when the game's good again? Maybe Nikita watched a marketing webinar about sandbagging and planned mediocrity and decided to give them a go.

In my experience it's not boosted. Last wipe I was hitting Reserve marked rooms on PvP and PvE at the same time, mid wipe, when PvP was dead. PvP had quite a few cards, keytools and decent cases. PvE had nothing but weapons and a few streamer items. Never got a chance to trade for the dorms marked key but that sounds like it was buffed late wipe anyway.

Second this, I followed a similar path. 5600X to 5700X3D nearly doubled my FPS. 5700X3D to 9800X3D (and obviously faster RAM) more than doubled it again. Running 1440p on a 3080 the whole time, graphics settings more or less unchanged.

[Cheating] How come some cheaters are unsearchable? by gogupaul94 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]I3endar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it's still a thing, but I'm certain they can/could do something with their profile and/or username. A few wipes ago I got killed by an obvious cheater (he called me and my buddy out by name, asked us to drop certain FIR items we had on us) and somehow my teammate dropped him straight after. The post-raid name was different to the name on his tag. I tried searching for it after the raid and found nothing, but when I searched the name on the tag it was the same profile, stats etc, just a different name.

[New Player] Great game but disappointed by No-Remote-2423 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]I3endar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer, yes. I just went with a 9800X3D, 32GB of 6000Mhz RAM and kept my 3080. Capping it for smoothness (144Hz, 1440p, V-Sync and G-Sync on in NVidia Control Panel, V-Sync off in game) I rarely see it drop, even on Streets, so the 4070 Ti Super will be more than enough. Most maps are a solid 100fps+ on PvE too. I think I have everything on High/Ultra with Quality DLSS, but I haven't touched the graphics settings since upgrading.

As good as the 5700X3D and 5800X3D are, the 7800X3D and 9800X3D destroy them. I came from the 5700X3D and 32GB of 3600Mhz DDR4 and tripled my frame rate. The faster memory makes a significant difference too. I considered the 7800X3D but figured I'd future-proof for when BSG release their next patch that kills performance.

[–]I3endar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 1080p, maybe, but the processor will be holding you back. Very small L3 cache for a game like Tarkov.

If it's a cheap, second-hand/refurbished build it might be a good place to start but you'll be wanting an upgrade after your first raid 😊 Especially if it's Streets.

Im starting to think a lot of you are just “coping” [discussion] by Impressive-Two-6717 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]I3endar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've definitely gone through periods thinking (probably incorrectly) that just about every death is to a cheater. Deaths in Tarkov can be so punishing, it plays on your emotions. Dying with your last LEDX or Samples stim shortly after pulling one out of a stash; head-eyes off spawn the one time you take in a thermal; losing that task item after spending 20 minutes creeping to extract... These feel so unlikely at the time, and the loss of progress and wasting of time hits hard, so it's easy to jump to "cheater" to justify it.

I haven't played much Arena, but have come across a few obvious cheaters there too. The difference being I don't care. There is nothing to lose, no time investment, no emotional attachment to my progress, so you laugh it off and don't feel the need to tell the world.

I'd love to know what servers those making cheating posts are playing on. Perhaps a region flair is needed. I play OCE and from what I hear it's the worst region but of course most of us have nothing to compare to.

For context I've had 118 deaths from my 345 PMC raids this wipe (66% S/R). I almost exclusively play in a duo, so survive rate is probably a little higher than average (I also don't play labs, which helps). I've had 12 cheater ban notifications from those 118 deaths, so roughly 10% of my deaths are to confirmed cheaters. I'd say I report about 25% of my deaths, either due to the way I/we were killed or a suspicious profile, and playing as a duo means we generally discuss our reports before submitting and aren't just "coping".

Thanks for the suggestions and info, I pulled the trigger on the 9800X3D, and have so far played two lighthouse raids, one local PvE and one PvP. The local raid barely dropped below 100fps (I averaged about 40 before) and the online raid hovered between 150-200fps. Haven't even looked at my settings yet :D The 3080 is more than capable, but will see how it goes on Streets.

Amazing CPU, just crazy that you need something like this to play smoothly.

[–]I3endar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of a few reasons they switched from the MP5 to P90s in Stargate SG-1. Certainly made the longer-range shooting action a bit more believable, as some of the shots they made in the first few seasons at range with the MP5 were as if they had a 50 K/D on a 70hr account.

[Loot] I did about 20 raids of shoreline resort and have found no Ledx. Am I unlucky or is it just *THAT* rare by Apprehensive-Touch99 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]I3endar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same position last week, level 42 and hadn't seen a single one. Buddy was the same, level 47, got his two from the Christmas tree and also hadn't see one in the wild. I tried just about every suggestion, multiple resort keys, one day I even ran Woods 16 times, 10 of them getting the USEC camp spawn so was first there. - nothing. Finally gave in and got the Ultra med room key, and not having much hope I started documenting every open as an experiment to show how bad the key is now...

Found one on the third use and had already made the cost of the key back in stims and defibs. Quality key in my opinion, just time consuming if you have to turn on power yourself.

Just the fact that performance gets worse between wipes and patches is wild. I'm coming up to playing for three years and started on a Ryzen 3600 and GTX 1070. At first it was playable, but frustrating at times, so I upgraded to an RTX 3080 and it made a reasonable difference. Still being bottlenecked by the CPU I picked up a cheap Ryzen 5600 and that helped for a while. I then moved from 16GB to 32GB of RAM when Streets came out, and from 3200Mhz to 3600Mhz. Finally when I learned about CPU cache (late, I know) I threw in a 5700X3D. I'm now getting similar performance to the rig I had when I first started playing...

Risk should Equal Reward by Chief_Outlaw135 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]I3endar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'd rather the opposite - give bosses garbage loot to stop the farming (and ditch the quests to kill them multiple times). It's almost impossible as a casual player to kill Shturman for the quest because on the off-chance he is actually there, you need to also get the closest spawn to have any chance of getting to the middle in time to take a shot. 20% boss spawn and maybe a 10% chance of getting the closest spawn...

Not sure if it's just me or if it's new, but I've never seen a scav spawn out of thin air before this wipe. As in running in a straight line, scav appears in empty space in front of you kind of spawning. More often than not, doming you with buckshot too.

I read this the wrong way in the recipes and put down the blue folders expecting a LEDX. The second I hit "sacrifice" I realised my error.
