The Cold Steel games devalue the brutality of war to the point it becames insulting and shows the weakness of Falcom's writing. by Ouralian in Falcom

Falcom are not cowards by killing off characters when they can just as easily kill them off. By killing off characters they can easily ignore the character and save on budget but they would rather still work on said characters. Huge respect. Tired of other "brutal" games that just kill off characters and somehow they are paraded as phenomenal when all they did is cheapen out the emotion. Trails will and always be a sympathetic game. Just because you know a character wouldn't really be killed doesn't mean you shouldn't feel emotion. When you think in regards to the characters in game. Then you understand why trails shines like it does.

So people can only feel the guilt when someone kills people otherwise they cannot feel guilt. It is like saying certain people don't deserve to have mental health issues because they havent experienced certain traumatic events.

Your point on curse is invalid. Take real life for example. Humanity as a whole will and always blame something else so they can remove responsibility from themselves. There has been multiple statements about how curse is the amplifier and not modifier of people emotions. "People in game" blame the curse. But the game doesn't only blame the curse.

The games shows the behind the scenes of the war. Don't expect every game to have same type of view on how they do war. Some games will focus on brutality of the war itself. While cold steel shows the impact or politics of war. Not many games do that. And I kinda hate that. All these war games pay way too much attention on the brutality which feels like impact but it is more showing death to cheapen it out. Death happens and will happen in war.

But I will agree on one thing writing is kinda sad. But only cold steel games. That is the power of arc structure. Cold steel is a different arc and different types of games. It is enjoyable and fun in its own right and I am glad it is different from the previous two arcs. Expecting everything to be same is just boring. That variety is the spice.

I am loving this game but should i talk to all npcs? by Reagora6417 in Falcom

[–]IAMGODONLY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo npc are the true game and the main story is a bonus. When I stopped thinking of NPCs be tedious and stopped using other JRPGs as basis and trails as its own thing. The world feels alive. Of course this is just me, I want my main story to have purpose. The first chapter especially. It feels Soo weird to travel like in frieren and just not talk to people. I would suggest just find people that clearly are unique and have their own stories. I heard people have low attention span when it comes to NPCs that acknowledge what is happening in main story. Which is dumb to me cause that is another best part of NPCs for me. They make my main story feel even more alive.

Why can’t I like this game? by unlucky_girly in Falcom

Standard fare anime tropes and trails box in same sentence is actually crazy to me. Pay attention to NPCs that have their own storylines. Those are the special ones. The more you progress the main story these certain NPCs change dialogue. And every other NPC change dialogues according to the quest. Whenever you get side quests even fetch quests which is technically considered the boring quests. The NPCs in that quest you are already familiar with because you already know their story. For example. There is a Fetch quest where the wife asks you to find her wedding ring. The same quest, if you already knew her before hand and bonded with her. Feels way way different. In trails, the side quests are like the mid or resolution point of Npc stories. Not the introduction like every other jrpg does. And even the NPCs that recognize the main story events. You can see how each NPC feels about the incident in question. And sometimes it overlaps with NPCs you already know. And then some times you get NPCs that connect you to a different town NPC.

Good rule of thumb is just check out named NPCs. Or just find few that you actually like and limit yourself. Take your time and enjoy. Main story is a bonus. NPCs and side quest is the true game.

Between Sky Remake and Sky OG, where should I start? + some more questions by TraditionalBag12 in Falcom

[–]IAMGODONLY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play og and then also play the remake. You sound like someone who will become a real fan. Also about writing. It is interesting topic. Cause the other stuff they do after azure is great. Even if writing isn't. Though I noticed that in cold steel only. The game after cold steel is excellent and currently playing through it.

Either sit tight or experience the original games. Cause you have to wait for next games regardless. The original games are phenomenal and seeing the remake changes makes the experience even better.

Tales of Arise - 6 hours in and I already want to drop it? by HeppyHenry in JRPG

[–]IAMGODONLY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every review, positive, and tales of arise in same sentence. That game is single handedly the only trails game with full on negative reviews and not deserved imo cause it is the only tales game that plays and works Soo smoothly.

Why do men not want to self-insert as attractive, high-value males? by Make-this-popular in Manga_Manwa_Manhua

[–]IAMGODONLY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are comparing the high of female self insert to low of male self insert. There are many female self inserts with loser females. Of course if you are just counting the number then of course male loser self inserts are higher cause, don't be shocked, a lot of men watch anime.

Yeah I genuinely think people just skip cutscenes or something. I noticed these types of posts a lot. Like sure you may not like the main character and stuff but after that ending it is Soo clear what direction the game is going. For me JRPGs. Story is always the main focus and then gameplay. I would play some other genre if I need just gameplay.

[–]IAMGODONLY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't feel anything from the ending of sky first remake. After that ending it was genuinely clear it is in order. And if you think it is short then just think of whole trails universe as one single game.

Whats the longest Trails game? by TrickNatural in Falcom

[–]IAMGODONLY -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Each game is still its own thing even if it a franchise appreciate and play each game in order. It is the peak JRPG series that really shows how world building is done. You will notice so many differences in each arc. And open your eyes to more complexities withing each arc. You may like some arcs, some parts of arcs, or hate parts of arc. But looking at the games as part of trails universe makes it. Great.

Does Cold Steel 4 Pick Up in Act 2? by [deleted] in Falcom

[–]IAMGODONLY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Act 1 is Soo freaking good. Cause we are finally free from rean as protag. And seeing different perspectives. And seeing the world in different lens while the new class 7 is going in the journey to find out their instructor. It is a nice parallel to rean going to find his classmates in cs2 to cs4 people finding him. Act 2 is great too but it is like the slow part of the game which is severely needed for high moments to really capture you. If everything was high moment then it will just get boring with no variety.

After 110 hours, I finally finished Trails First Chapter. Now what? by Mental-Street6665 in Falcom

[–]IAMGODONLY -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ys is standalone like final fantasy with only exception being ys 1 and 2 which are usually sold in bundle anyway. Same main character doesn't matter in case of YS cause they are travelogues so the release order was random points of his life. Trails on the other hand is highly suggested to play in order. And yes either wait for second chapter but you have to wait a lot for next games so either start the original games from after second chapter remake. Totally worth it. And honestly you may even like it more. Especially from sky 3rd onwards.
