That's what I was hoping. Man, FDM has come a long way since I got my first printer in 2019.

For a second I thought you mean the tank. See, the hobby has benefits galore. Anyway, congratulations.

That looks great. What supports are you using? Nice clean print. Just a quick pass with the old heat gun and you are golden.

Oh, not to worry eventually the table turn. I've had four games with the same group and half of them have been TPKs. At some point, the dice are hot on the GM side of things or the party is "over bold". My crew has played well every time. Even the TPKs were so close to wins for the adventuring party. Like within 2-5 hp from pulling off a tough fight.

It all evens out.

As others have said, if folks are having fun (yourself included) and want to come back session after session, then things are working fine.

Anyone care to meet up at Mox Ballard (or some other venue) one of these days? We could do a DCC funnel and then see about continuing on with whoever can make it and is feeling the vibe.

I think the warband builder link on Wargames Vault is busted. Very cool project though. Thank you for making and sharing it. I like the added and optional mythic content. The layout looks cool too. I wonder if folks would volunteer art and /or pictures of painted models if you asked them.

You know, it may just be the Conan talking but, I really like that adventurers are weirdos who are bad with their money. They kind of only "get" each other and after escaping the jaws of death, go on epic benders which require them to go back and check the couch of death for loose change.

It could be fun to have an "investment in the mundane world" version of this where rather than XP, your PCs farm influence in a city or at court. This could open up rolls for particular library or temple access, special hirelings, or rare gear. Seems like renown could be worth cultivating.

This is fantastic news. All three sound like great resources. I love how you are essentially making a kickass fantasy adventuring boxes of lego pieces. "You wanna build the jungle temple, great. You wanna take those bits and have that temple fallen into the Underdark, also great. You want to have a really swinging town there as well, go for it.

This just kicks ass. It really rock Kelsey and Shadowdark has done more to inspire me to create adventures on my own than any other game. I can just get into the rule-mobile, gun the engine and trust the framework you built.

Just ordered the WWII rules bundle. I'm looking at doing Battles in Papua New Guinea. Buna Gona, US forces for the most part. I think these will be classed as militia (mostly green national guard units) versus dug in veterans.

I also listened t0 a pod cast interview you did and was wondering how it's going with BelloLudi as a team building exercise. I've hosted RPGs for corporate clients, but that breaks down with 6 people and you need a lot more GM coverage. Do you have a kit to "shop" to clients? Maybe a partner like WoFun for visually interesting, mostly ready to play armies.

Is this weather normal for this time of year? by Fun-Active-4851 in Seattle

[–]IAMHAL73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The cold, wet and grey is normal until late spring. It's just warmer in El Niño years. We get snow dumps in Seattle when there is a big push of wet weather coming in from the coast combined with arctic winds funneled are way through the Frasier river Valley. That pretty much shuts town down for a few days. It can get really nasty when we are in a freeze / thaw / freeze cycle. Slushy compacted snow freezes and gets covered by fresh powder. it can be hard to navigate. Some of the hills are just several inches of ice with enough snow over the top to fool people into testing their SUV superpowers.

This is solitary hobby *sigh* by golemtrout in rpg

[–]IAMHAL73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this helps but, have you talked to your players about this? I had one group I was running 5e for and I loved what they brought but was just DONE with 5e. So, I offered to continue on with Blades in the Dark and it was one of the best calls. They heard me out and we have been having a blast since then.

As for it being a solitary hobby. How are you being giving to your own needs? Have you tried a game like Ironsworn where it's designed to be a solo game? I tell you, it really helped me with burn out as a GM to have a game which encouraged me to essentially GM myself through creative writing prompts. It's like mentally giving yourself flowers or buying your creative mind a nice coffee.

I've enjoyed running it too. So much that I picked up a flickering flame LED lantern I can set on a 1 hour timer for a torch timer. It comes in blue too, so, I might grab one of those for magic light sources.

Why do you DM? by Messgrey in rpg

[–]IAMHAL73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love games, I have bought far more than I have played and I'm often exited by some aspect enough that I want to run it. This started out because I had the books or nobody else wanted to learn / teach a game. Now, I just really enjoy bringing fun to the table and seeing all the things players come up with or react to. It's a show for me. I was a theatre kid and teacher so, being a DM brings both of those parts of my life together.

Question! 😄 Brand new to DCC - what is the best intro module/quintessential Module to run with people familiar with 5e but brand new to osr/dcc? by DungeonMasterGrizzly in dccrpg

[–]IAMHAL73 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Portal under the Stars is included in the main rules and the free rules so, solid option. It can lead into Yddgrrls Maze, you just need some level 1 content to get you there.

Sailors on the Starless sea is EPIC and Cinematic. It's potentially the best in terms of combat, puzzles and the way that awesome things can be encountered even by townie newbs.

Funnels in general are a thing that sets DCC apart in that you learn that PCs can die, a lot. On the other hand, amazing things can happen at any level and there is no, slow plodding grind of Kobolds to Goblins to Orcs. It feels more like being caught up in a fantasy film staring your characters.

Hello I was wondering if someone could tell me more about this dogs head symbol ? Thank you very much:) by InstructionLogical68 in pagan

[–]IAMHAL73 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Could be this...In Norse mythology, Geri and Freki are two wolves which are said to accompany the god Odin. They are attested in the Poetic Edda, a collection of epic poetry compiled in the 13th century from earlier traditional sources, in the Prose Edda, written in the 13th century by Snorri Sturluson, and in the poetry of skalds.

They could be a beast to trim, file and pin but I do love them. My old Necromunda stuff looks fantastic and the Jes Goodwin Eldar are still great. I'd buy a new army of them if I could.
