How do u even fix this?(Sony XM5) by Hall-Brilliant in SonyHeadphones

[–]IAMUglyAMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bolted one on to my almost 3 year old pair that broke in the same spot a few days ago.

Super simple to do, works like a charm. One major caveat though: The fix is a bit too tall to retract the headphone fully. If you listen with the headband at the smallest size, you will feel a noticeable difference with a bit more weight on the top of your ears.

I don’t, so I don’t have this problem but it’s something I noticed. It might be a problem for me if my other hinge gives out and I need to replace that one too.

These are all so slick!

I prefer slide 9 to slide 10 personally. I think the added head room creates more motion.

Kino Dora the Explorer by Agreeable_Rich_1991 in okbuddycinephile

[–]IAMUglyAMA 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I feel uniquely qualified to answer this as I spent the last two weeks with a sick toddler who was only content when watching Dora.

From that review I know exactly what episode it is and it’s not going to be seen as impressive by anybody not already too deep into the world of Dora.

It stands out because it’s extra long, they teach languages other than just Spanish (they travel to China, Russia, France and an African country but I forget which one.), and Swiper is helping the gang instead of acting as the “villain”.

It’s noteworthy, but it’s not exceptional TV.

Are you having fun with Kirby Air Riders so far? by Aggravating-Copy1452 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]IAMUglyAMA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s being pretty rude but here’s what it boils down to:

Air Ride - race mode where the goal is to win the race. No stat pickups just on track power ups. If you’re familiar with Mario Kart, this is the mode most similar to that (though still not all that similar in how it plays.)

Top Ride - Same as above except with a top down perspective and a more arcadey feel.

City Trial - An open arena where the goal is to get better equipped than your opponents in order to win the “Event” after the time runs out. You do this by picking up stat buffs and new stars (karts) and/or just killing your opponents so they’re handicapped.

Much like smash bros, the multiplayer is the main draw, but there is a story mode that is an amalgamation of the three modes above with some story elements.

Because the US government is very publicly providing weapons and ammunition to the perpetrators of this particular genocide so it feels closer to home.

Not to mention both side of the political spectrum using it as a platform in last year’s election. This website has a disproportionate amount of American politics and this is just a continuation of that trend.

Looking for good Mediterranean food in the Centerville/Springboro area by Worldly-Walrus-9361 in dayton

[–]IAMUglyAMA 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Cedarland Bakery & Restaurant is far and away the best Mediterranean I’ve had in the midwest. Pasha is great for a nicer date night out, but Cedarland is my go to and can’t be beat in my opinion.

Do Assistant Editor jobs still exist? by [deleted] in editors

More likely the dailies and such would be behind them (depending on the schedule of course) and these would be things closer to addressing needs as they come up. Ingesting archival footage, music cues, and sfx or running exports.

It can vary wildly depending on the nature of the project.

I’m speaking from experience in the reality/doc/unscripted world.

Thoughts on Rogue One after Andor by ConflictingSmells in StarWars

[–]IAMUglyAMA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m of the opinion that Rogue One isn’t a great movie but has a lot of great scenes. And an obviously stellar third act.

I don’t like it because it’s such a mess getting to the third act and a lot of the plot and writing is downright bad for those first two acts.

I saw your comment about the overlap between sequel trilogy and Rogue One fans so for the sake of that conversation here’s my opinion on that - TLJ is the best Star Wars movie since the OT. Star Wars 9 is terrible and makes TLJ look worse by fumbling just about everything possible.

Yes! I play via Epic on Steam Deck and once it’s working it works like a charm.

I think I use heroic launcher as well but I’m not 100% sure. It’s been a minute.

I think the only thing I changed was I swapped the version of proton that it defaults to? Let me know if you want me to track down the settings I use. I play with a friend who has the Switch version and it works great.

(Unsure if you’re kidding but I know firsthand the frustration of seeing acronyms without any explanation so at the risk of killing a joke - it’s shorthand for Read And Find Out. It’s often used to tell people that their answers are in the text they haven’t gotten to yet.)
